Title: Arcade Power Supply (PSU) voltages question.
Post by: pharoah007 on December 21, 2016, 09:44:53 am
My PSU has a slight variance between -5V and +5v

When I set the +5V to exactly +5V, the +12V is right at 11.98V, good.

However,

When I set the +5V to exactly +5V... the -5v is only -4.5V

Is this variance normal?  I do not want to crank up the +5 volt to get the -5V up to -5V or I may fry the PCB.

Thanks all.

set the +5 voltage to 5.0...connect and power on the game. measure the voltage ON THE BOARD and set the voltage there up to 5.1 (just to be safe) forget the rest.

-5v is normally only used in the audio amp section. as long as it's below 0 volts it's fine. (and sometimes not even used at all depending on the board.)
