Title: Nanao MS8 to ArcadeVGA
Post by: shess on November 22, 2016, 09:50:36 am
I know there are other threads on this topic but my situation is slightly different. I've verified that my monitor is in 15khz mode and works fine with a Sony PS2 and a Jamma board. When I hook it up to my ArcadeVGA though, I get no picture. I've tried the sync wire on both H and V pins but nothing changes. I also hooked the ArcadeVGA up to a WG 25K74XX and it worked fine so I know the card is good. I was thinking I need a video amp, but I thought I should at least see a dim picture without it.  Anything else to try first?

Yes, I tried it with my CPS2 setup and it worked fine.

Have you tried contacting Andy at Ultimarc? He usually has a few things that he'll ask you to rule out for starters. He probably won't get very in depth on it though, but he's good help at times. Also there are quite a few steps for properly setting up ArcadeVGA...I assume you set all of that up properly, otherwise it wouldnt have worked on your WG. I'd hit Andy up for starters and let him know you had it working properly on your WG, so youre apparently doing all of the setup correctly. He might know more about using it with a Nanao MS8. First thing hes gonna ask you is if you can see the Galaga icon on your lower right screen with all the different resolutions. Again, I'm pretty sure you already have that. Good luck man!

After talking to Andy, it turns out the brightness on the monitor was just low enough that I couldn't see the picture. After turning it up all the way I saw the boot up screen. Presumably a video amp will fix this issue. Thanks for everyone's advice.
