Title: Anybody have a tutorial on how to user romlister?

I'm trying to compile a list of compatible games to use with MAMEoX. I downloaded romlister but I have no idea how to use this program. I found a youtube video (https://youtu.be/fC9GPZMdRe8) but it merely shows me what to do. I prefer to actually learn something and know WHY I'm doing it instead of just being show HOW to do it.

So, anybody have a good tutorial for this program?
