I really wanted to figure this out on my own... but any help is great at this point. Running Windows 10.
I got MAME, Model 2 and 3, and Naomi working with my Aimtrak. I can't for the life of me get Dolphin (wii), ePSXe, or PCSX2 working with it. Downloaded and messed with nuvee for a few days now. Tried Troubleshooter with ePSXe and it didn't seem to do anything, when I used upx.exe on the exe like ti said to do on the site, iit showed and error and wouldn't open anymore. I want to be able to leave my two arcade sticks and the Aimtrak hooked up at all times and switch between games using the gun or with the arcade pads in ePSXe and PCSX2 without having to leave my frontend. I've gotten the Aimtrak working in PCSX2 and Dolphin briefly, but I can only use the trigger, the Aimtrak buttons don't work. The Wii crosshair was wacky too, it didn't follow my mouse cursor. If someone could share their configurations for any of those three that you have working with an Aimtrak, I'd be very grateful.
Single off-shoot question- in Ninja Assault in Demul, I have to shoot the black sides of the 4:3 screen to reload instead of being able to shoot actually off the screen. Any way to fix this?
-
The only way I found to use Aimtrak with ePsxe and PCSX2 with nuvee plugin was to set up trigger, A and B button in the Aimtrak utility as Left Mouse, Right Mouse and middle Mouse button.
The suggested configuration: left mouse and P1 Joy1, P2 Joy 1 doens't work for me
-
Did you use nuvee plugin? Would you mind posting your settings? And do you use Guncon mode on the Aimtrak?
-
I'm sorry, I gave you a wrong information.
I use PCSXR for Playstation Gun Games with nuvee plugins (and ePsxe for the other games). Below my settings for the Ultimarc Aimtrak Utility and the setings for PCSXR.
With this system I can play gun games in every emulators (I never tried Dolphin)
-
Thanks, I'll compare with mine and hopefully make some progress.
-
thanks genius77, I don't know what I had wrong but it's working in ePSXe and PPCSX2! :cheers:
Now if anyone has an Aimtrak working with Dolphin, I'd love to chat. When I set Wiimote 1 to "mouse" it shows the aimtrak in the IR sensor box, but the crosshair isn't accurate to my cursor, it goes wide and tall too quickly. If I stay on "mouse" but set the axes to the Aimtrak X and Y, the crosshair in game goes crazy and it bouncing all over the place. When I use any controller settting other than mouse, it doesn't pick up the IR sensor.
-
It should work fine on Dolphin with the defaults settings.
-
Like just a fresh install? Don't touch anything?

Ok, you were right, got it working with Cursor + and -. The crosshair doesn't match up my cursor though, I guess this is because of the center/width/height settings? Do you really have to figure those out for every game?

I confirm for Dolphin, I had somme difficulties to make my aimtrak work : tried to select different HID, configuring + and - axis etc.......untill I used default configuration for mouse without barely touching anything (just buttons for A,B)
I have no problem with cursor though, and I nerver changed any values for width/heigh settings
Single off-shoot question- in Ninja Assault in Demul, I have to shoot the black sides of the 4:3 screen to reload instead of being able to shoot actually off the screen. Any way to fix this?
With Demul (until now - 07.a) : No. This game is not emulated the same way as the others are, and it does not respond to right click, so you have to fire (left click) outside, like real system, and not use false right-click reload
I noticed it when updating Demul for Ninja Assault (up, down buttons for Service menu, etc...), so I handle it now with the next version to make it behave like other games (version 2.0 ready to come in a few days) ;)
-
Really, your cursor and crosshair match on games automatically? What are your video settings and center/width/heighth values?
Edit: I see you said you didn't change the width/height values. I have no idea what's going on then... Maybe it has to do with it using Cursor + and - instead of Axis. But when I change it to Axis of the Aimtrak, it really doesn't work, behaves like a joystick just sticking in a corner or side.

Hey that's great news! I really like that game so it'd be great if it had normal offscreen reload. Thanks for your responses! So strange and frustrating with my cursor in Dolphin...
-
I'll check when I get back home to make some screenshots of my controller config with dolphin but yeah, it is just as if I use a regular mouse
-
That would be great!
-
My config :
1) Wiimote config window : I choose Emulated Wiimote
2) Wiimote : I set device to "Dinput/0/Keyboard mouse" and just registered A/B/1 buttons with aimtrak (it just recognises left, midle and right click)
You can see red dot position from my cursor and red button "B" as I click when screen capturing
Wii cursor perfectly follows windows cursor. It works well with mouse only, or Aimtrak (as Aimtrak controls your mouse....)
3) Other choices I have in device combobox, neither of them are working good

Exactly the same as mine. So frustrating. Could you post your video settings if it isn't too much trouble? Just trying to find where the difference is. Thanks for those screenshots!
-
Here's the screenshot. I don't think there is much in there :(
I just noticed I forgot to switch off FPS ;D
As for the 3 other tabs, it's not constant as I use per-game config files to set hacks/graphics option
-
Well I'm stumped. We even have the same graphics card! Maybe there's some per game settings I can change to make them all match up without having to figure out the width/height/center for every game through trial and error.
-
:-\
per game params are just internal resolution and game specifics hacks for graphics glitch....it worked out of the box for cursor on my side
Have you tried a fresh install ?

Just did, there had been a couple new versions released since my initial download but it didn't help. :embarassed:
-
Strange indeed....and did you test with a regular mouse ?
-
Yes, and it's perfect 1:1 with a normal mouse. Just with the Aimtrak does it swing too far out.
-
wow very strange....Aimtrak is just acting as a mouse so it should be the same :(
Dolphin seems to use direct input so it should be the replica of windows cursor

Do the Aimtraks need to be in Guncon mode? Do you need to use the topgun drivers or can you just have the nuvee plugin? I currently have two Aimtraks working flawlessly in MAME and would like to set up PCSX2. Confused though because they act as mouse in MAME, so if they have to be in Guncon mode wouldn't that screw up the configuration and usability in MAME? Currently have the latest PCSX2 version and the nuvee plugin downloaded, don't know where to go from here. Any help would be great.
-
Guncon mode never helped me with anything. I'll be honest, I gave up on PCSX2 because you do have to use the nuvee plugin and for some reason, the config resets every time you exit the emulator. So if you're using a frontend, you'll have to exit out and reconfig every time. That was probably three months ago and at that time I was told there was no solution.

Wow that was a quick reply! Oh really? Yea I noticed it reset to default settings this morning when I closed and re-opend PCSX2. That really sucks. Well, besides having to redo it every time and without using Guncon 2 mode for the Aimtraks, What did you do to get them working?
-
I think you just set nuvee as the controller plugin, set it to Guncon or Guncon 2 (in nuvee settings, not Aimtrak), and then there's a test mode to make sure it's working. I think it has to be set to direct input somewhere? It's been a while, sorry. Google PCSX2 nuvee settings if that doesn't work, I found it somewhere originally haha.
-
Thanks, Ill try that later. Yea I can't for the life of me find Aimtrak settings for nuvee. Getting a headache. All I want to do is play the Time Crisis series. Wish they had it working on MAME already.
-
Absolutely, I had zero problems getting the Aimtraks to work in MAME, it's been a pain in every other emulator. Actually, wasn't too bad in Demul. But everything else.
-
Yea, wish the mame devs worked on games we actually want. Nice, I guess Ill have to try and get my guns working in Demul too.

Nuvee plugin saves configuration on single text files (2 files, 1 for general config, the other is filled with the game you choose in the dropdown list in Nuvee configuration window)
Just make configs for every games, save those files on different folder, then use a simple Autohotkey script to copy/paste corresponding files according to your game and voilą...no more fooling around in settings to play a game with Nuvee. It's working good with front end this way

Here's a good link, very detailed explanation (unfortunately in French :/)

I may have to write some kind of tutorial here sometimes, including files manipulation with autohotkey for frontend use....
-
Thanks. Yea, I would love a tutorial write up. Have no idea how to write an autohotkey. Would love to do that because I'm experiencing the same issue where it rests the settings to null.
Thanks for the nuvee guide. Time to whip out google translate!

Thanks for the nuvee guide. Time to whip out google translate!
I can't write a full tutorial right now but here's some (quick and dirty) help for autohotkey/frontend use :
Nuvee is working with 2 files, both can be copied before executing PCSX2 :
nuvee_ps2_usb_main.ini :
PORT1 = 1
PORT2 = 0
HIDMOUSE_API = 0
Debug = 0
Swap lightguns = 1
Snap mouse = 1
- PORT1 and PORT2 : set it to '1' to use a gun, '0' for nothing. This example is from a single player game so PORT2 was set to '0'
- Swap Lightguns is the little checkbox on the GUI, depending on the game, it has to be checked (=1) or not (=0) so that P1 and P2 aimtraks are in good order. Weird behavior....
- Everything else, i never changed anything
nuvee_ps2_usb_guncon1.ini and nuvee_ps2_usb_guncon1.ini :
Sensitivity = 100.000000
Threshold = 512
Deadzone = 0
Left = 1
Right = 17
Middle = 2
Reload = 0
Calibration = 1
Cursor = 0
GUID = \\?\HID#VID_D209&PID_1601&MI_02#7&6f69e7b&0&0000#{378de44c-56ef-11d1-bc8c-00a0c91405dd}
Lightgun_left = 1
Lightgun_top = 1
Lightgun_right = 65534
Lightgun_bottom = 65534
Model = 0
Alignment = 7
Aiming scale X = 100.000000
Aiming scale Y = 100.000000
Aiming profile = time_crisis2
Aux 1 = 3
Aux 2 = 2
Wheel up = 17
Wheel down = 17
Keyboard D-pad = 1
Start hotkey = 0
Two files for 2P game, only 1st file needed for 1P game
Inside you'll have to modify and tweak some values to align PCSX2 cursor to your mouse
So, as examle, here's my Autohotkey script to play Time Crisis 2:
#SingleInstance
;Copying Nuvee configuration and Time Crisis II game profile

As you see, I have in each game directory a saved Nuvee configuration.
So for each game, I use mouse, keyboard, PCSX2's settings windows to configure the game and Nuvee. Once finished I save Nuvee files and I can now play games without having to choose a game profile for nuvee each time I start PCSX2
Note: you can skip the --cfgpath="D:\PS2\Jeux\Time Crisis II\inis", D:\PS2\PCSX2 1.2.1 part on my script, as for Nuvee, I have for each game some emulation/graphics settings that I give to PCSX2 instead of defaults one

Got it, kinda makes sense. I understand Ill have to make files for each game. But how do you have the front end (Hyperspin for me) and PCSX2 automatically load the correct file when you select the game through the front end?
Also, read through the French tutorial seems kinda straight forward. Ill have to give it a try when I get home from work. This also allows the use of the a/b buttons on the aimtraks to use as cover in game?
Hate researching this stuff at work with no means of being able to fiddle :hissy:

I have no knowledge of hyperspin or rocketlauncher unfortunatelly, but I know it is possible to make those frontends execute a script according to the game/system you have selected.
So basically, just make a script for each game (like I did but without the "Run" part to execute the emulator, Hyperspin will do that) and I hope someone will tell you how to implement those script so that hyperspin will launch it when you choose a game

Yes, according to how you set Nuvee mouse buttons on this window, you'll be able to use directly Aimtrak Buttons.

Another way to do so is, if you have other Buttons available (or even a real Pedal ;D), to make them act as keyboard keys with autohotkey according to Nuvee's maping :

Alright cool. Thanks for all your help. Hopefully I can get these up and running with minimal headaches.
-
Tried all the different settings in the guide last night and can't get it to work. Closest I got was loading up Time Crisis - Crisis Zone and got to the calibration screen, didn't see crosshairs but when I pulled the trigger it made gun shooting sounds. Stayed on the calibration screen though and couldn't go any further. Didn't do anything

I've had good success playing the lightgun version of pcsx-r with the nuvee plugin.
Get it here -

The "pcsx2-r4600-usb" in the nuvee 10-21-11 zip? That's the one I'm using. Or is there something else Im missing on that page? You said you're using pscx-r

Just as a note, you don't want to use crisis zone as a test game, it's the one that can be tricky to make it work 100%
I'm not at home but I guess I downloaded latest build of pcsx2 available (I built my system in january)
I did not use pcsx2 which was given with nuvee
I'll try to find an old computer and install pcsx2 from scratch to make a tutorial in the days to come if I have enough time
-
Oops, totally meant to write Endgame, not time crisis. Awesome, that would be great. Thanks! yea I tried it on the latest version of PCSX2 first to no avail before trying the version that came with nuvee.
