I've searched the hell outta this and never found anything...but its GOTTA be a simple thing to do.
Im running Dragons Lair on Daphne, everything works fine (no scene skipping etc) except I remember in the arcade version that the screen would flash certain areas (like a door or a cave opening) that would signal which direction that youre supposed to go. Mine doesnt do that. What am I missing?
Thanks guys!

Unless I'm misunderstanding what you're thinking of, those flashes are built into the animation, there's nothing to turn on.

Youre understanding correctly, thanks.
Damn, I guess that makes sense... In that case I suppose that means that I got a copy of something other than the original game laserdisc, cause there are absolutely no animation flashes to signal where to go. :dunno
Thanks Nocturnaloner!

IIRC Dragons Lair II had the flashes and the original did not.

Oh! Well if that's the case then all these years I thought I was playing DL1 as a kid :dizzy: I'll take a look at DL2, you're probably right. Thanks!

Wait, sorry are you saying that Dragons lair 1 doesn't have the move hints? ie- the flashes

I believe that's what I said. Of course I also said "IIRC" (if I recall correctly)
I'm pretty sure that was the case. Browsing youtube videos seems to confirm.

Yesterday I had some time to play around with it and got a few scenes deep into DL1 on Daphne. The first couple of scenes had no flashes, just audible tone signals. A few scenes later (a couple of rooms into the castle) doors and ropes etc began to flash as I remember they did years ago at the arcade.
Apparently in the original arcade the opening bridge scene doesnt flash for some reason but after that, things start flashing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KJBI5JjVkBY (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KJBI5JjVkBY) Doesnt seem to be consistent throughout every scene tho. Weird :dunno Oh well, I guess that solves it
I checked out Dragons Lair 2 and it is much more consistent with the flashes as BadMouth mentioned. There is also an option to turn them on/off I believe in the service menu.

Awesome thanks for the clarification.

As I recall, not every scene had hints, but many did, in the original Dragon's Lair. The first one is here, the right hand door glowing at the right time:

I'm pretty sure the sega cd had the hints. took me forever to figure out how to get past the bridge though.
