Ok, my build is almost to a playable state. I'm setting up the software end of things and am looking for suggestions on what to put in the game list. The controls on the build are a 4-way stick and two buttons.
I'll update this post as things come in. So far I know I'm going to have.
Astro Blaster
Blueprint
Bubble Bobble
Burgertime
Carnival
Dig Dug
Donkey Kong
Donkey Kong 3
Donkey Kong Jr
Flicky
Frogger
Galaga
Galaxian
Joust
Kangaroo
Lady Bug
Mappy
Mario Bros
Moon Patrol
Mr Do
Ms Pac-Man
Pac-Man
Pandora's Palace
Pengo
Pepper II
Pooyan
Popeye
Qix
Rainbow Island
Rally-X
Satan's Hollow
Solar Fox

Just checked it out, totally added!

Astro blaster

Holy crap that looks hard! Love the voice synth though. Added.

I actually have an AtomicFE setup that's all the vertical 4-way games with up the two buttons. It is like 97 games total. It also includes Donkey Kong Pauline Edition.

I added a hack with SLOW GAS consumption and Laser more cooler (never overheats). To me it's more playable this way.

add
Pooyan
Kangaroo
Carnival
Wizard of Wor
Caveman Ninja / Joe and Mac
Toki
Rainbow Island
Bubble Booble
Like Puzzles ? Boxy Boy
-
Looks like Joe & Mac and Toki are 8 way. All the others are great, added!
-
I like Bagman and Super Bagman.
-
Should the list be playable with a 4-way or 4-way games?
Galaga is 2-way but definitely playable with a 4-way.
Wizard or Wor isn't a 4-way game, but may be hacked to play as a 4-way.
I'll have to take a look at some of my lists as well.

Screen size and orientation is needed to actually recommend anything here imo. If it's a 25" horizontal screen, you can kind of get away with vertical games. If the screen is fairly small, like a bartop, I recommend only playing games with the proper orientation.
Moon Patrol, is 2 way stick game that I would put on the list.
-
D'oh! Totally forgot about Moon Patrol. Added.
It's going into a cocktail with a 20" LCD. I'm not concerned with screen squishing. (Heresy, I know. Tough.)
-
Congo Bongo
Jackal
Tutankham (but only if you map the "flash" button to P1 or P2)
Bombjack
Up'n Down
Turtles (Stern game...not TMNT)
Commando
Zzyzzyxx (a bazaar and frustrating version of Frogger)
Armor Attack (you'll have to do some button re-mapping for this one but it's a fun game)
-
I was going to lament the lack of love for Blue Print, but apparently KLOV says it is an 8-way game ... although I put it in an old vertical 4-way build I did eons ago. Fun little game.
-
Holy crap, I'd forgotten about Blueprint. Totally added!
-
Blueprint is 8-way, but it's not noticeable until you move your guy to the bottom of the screen out of the maze.
-
since you got Pac and Ms, why not Junior >:D
-
Junior gets a bad rap. Sure it's the worst pac-man ever created, but it's still pac-man so that's half the battle right there.

These are solid 4-way games that are vertical orientation (you said you didn't mind about orientation).
