Title: AMI MMCD-2 Error Codes: 05-50 and 05-53

My machine was running 9 months ago, then it went into storage while I moved to New Orleans.  Machine was set up and all appeared to be well, until CD loaded, spun for 2 revolutions, stopped, spun again for 2 revolutions, then unloaded.   There are 2 Error codes which are 05-50 inner cam switch always open and 05-53 outer cam switch always open.  My question is what to do next:  Do I replace the cam switches or what?  Is there any other troubleshooting, or testing of the switches?  The cams are moving when the disk loads and unloads, and all appears to be normal, until the CD stops and unloads.

Can't speak about the error messages you are getting, but from what you describe it looks like the OPU (laser) in your CD player may have gone bad.

can confirm...system can't "see" the disk so it thinks there is a disk loading issue.

load a cd then as it's just about to drop the disk on the spindle, snatch it out. see if you can see the laser coming on. (or sometimes with some disks (burned cd's) you can see right through them.)
