Title: Hacking is dangerous in ways you wouldn't expect.
Post by: Howard_Casto on February 14, 2016, 12:35:06 am
Ok so I was back at attacking the xbox one streaming app to try and get non-xbox controllers to connect to it.  I wasn't paying attention to the screen.... I didn't know the horror to come.

Upon my exit for the night I discovered that during all that testing I had inadvertently purchased Naruto Ninja Storm 4.  So now I'm 8 dollars poorer and have to live with the indignity of owning something Naruto related.

Tell your friends.  Like Pimpin' .... Hackin' Ain't Easy!

Eeek!  Apparently it was 84 dollars, not 8.  Good thing the actual purchase was caused by a bug in the streaming app and they give one do-over a year.

Oh yeah, maybe I should explain the issue so others won't do it.  I reported it to support but who knows if it'll get fixed.

I was holding down buttons to see if I could find them in memory.  Well one got stuck (old busted 360 gamepad) so I clicked out of the window to clean it and bring up the game controllers box in windows to see if I had it free.  I clicked on the xbox one window to move it out of the way and doh!.... it registered another press of the A button even though I never got it unstuck.

So the Xbox One streaming window kills the button signals when it loses focus and re-presses them again if they are held down when focus is returned.  Now having a button stuck while you just happen to have the store selected and clicking out and then back into the window is probably a one in a million shot, but that's the kind of luck I have.  So just keep it in mind guys.

I'm sitting here peacefully with a cold one and this flies in out of left field.

My entertainment for the day. :)

I laugh at anyone with an auto-fire controller!
