Title: Re: UAII Style TMNT 4 Player Cabinet UPDATE: 90% Complete
Post by: dheck on February 03, 2016, 03:39:43 pm
Hey guys.  I am far enough along now that I feel like I can post.  I've been working on this for maybe a year now but recently have had time to really get some things done.  I wanted to recreate the original TMNT Cabinet but update it a little in the style of the UAII cab.  The control panel is a design I worked up from reading all the great feedback from this forum.

All that is really left is to finish the painting, wire the control panel and apply the artwork.

I have sent to art off to print.  I took the original artwork for the side and control panel and modified it. I spent hours in photoshop filling in all the original button holes and what not so that I would have a clean slate for my own sides and control panel.

Now for the pics

This is using a 27" Sony CRT

Did April O'Neill always have a broken leg in that picture? I may have never noticed that as a kid.

I always LOVED the art style of the Turtles on this cab, though.

Your work looks great, and I love how the back opens!

I never noticed her leg either!  She is definitely in a weird stance.  It's probably because I was always fixated on her sexy 80's hair.

Well I realized I screwed up on my control panel after I already got it all mounted and buttons installed.  I followed the original control panel design.

Original from Left to Right is as follows
P1    P2        P3      P4
Leo  Mikey   Don    Raph

Since I followed the original control panel design my button colors associated with correct turtle are all messed up except for Raph because from left to right I have

P3    P1        P2      P4
Leo  Mikey   Don    Ralph

I did this so P1 and P2 were the center most players to the monitor.  I didn't think about switching the graphics around to compensate for this change.

This is only a factor when you are playing the actual Turtles game.  I can't decide if it bothers me enough to reprint the control panel.

I did not even think of that!  Clearly I do not have a lot of experience with MAME just yet.  You just saved me a lot of heartache!

Some updates.  It's about 90% complete.  My modified original artwork turned out to look pretty good on a UAII style cabinet.  Some pictures below.  Just some minor things to finish now.

All that is left is some front end tuning and that's about it.  Please excuse the disaster of a house.  It's hard to keep things tidy when you're trying to finish one of these projects!
