Can't seem to get any vertical 240p mode to display correctly on my 28 inch Sony tv
Top and bottom of screen is chopped off ?
Is my tv just no good , here is 320x240 you can see in the pic top
And bottom is missing

You need to enter the Service menu for the TV and adjust the geometry. Usually V-Height or V-Amp or something.

already tried that m8 i have the vertical size the smallest it will go and there is parts of the game screens missing , looks like the tv cant display 240p , so much for sony trinitron tvs looks like time to find another . strange thou as it can display my ps1 at 320x240 and my scart real amiga 1200 at 320x256 without an issue :banghead:

I don't know enough about that tv to give much more than opinion but the Sony tv i have says 50hz/60hz on the back and switches depending on the resolution/frequency and can display up to 256 lines without trouble.
Do u have another TV you can try? might just be too much trouble to get the result u want out of that. Time v effort n' all.
Assuming the Amiga is running at 50hz?

Yeah it's a 50hz pal Amiga , think I've kind of got things looking not to bad
The Amiga seems to use a smaller portion of the screen the rest seems to be overscan that you wouldn't normally
Seen on the tv, looks more like arcade games use the overscan also . Looks like it's time to get a Sony bvm or a
Pvm lol

Typical problem for many TV, my Thomson and Sony 29'' have the same problem especially for resolutions with 240p and frequency about 59,5 Hz. Try different modelines or try modify your vmmaker.ini in section monitor_specs0 - look for value 1,056 and change it to 1,200. Now re run VMmaker and restart PC. Picture should be a bit narrow but at least there won't be any cutted line in 320x240@59,5.

Cheers m8 I'll give it a try :)

This is good solution if You have problem with other emulators like WinUAE, NEstopia. Those emulators cannot alter resolutions like Groovymame so the only way is to manually alter them.
If You are planning to use only Groovymame please consider better solution - In mame.ini look for crt_range and monitor options.
Third option only for specific game would be to put specific modeline in game ini. Look http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,148640.0.html (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,148640.0.html)

I`ve been programming my own modelines , made 4 pal modelines for the amiga now it switches resolutions perfectly.
also made 2 pal modelines for mortal kombat and bragon breed rtype etc , managed to get them both at the exact frame rate and fitting in the screen perfectly no missing lines this sony tv can do 16.8khz which is far more than I though a tv was capable off quite amazed ;D

Most TVs can even 320x240@62Hz
