I just got a bartop cabinet kit and I am in the planning stages on what to put inside.
I don't think there is room to put a vertical monitor in there so it will need to be horizontal. I am mostly into games from 1979-1985
I am up in the air right now on what to to put in it to run the games.
XXX in 1, I have build a 60 in 1 (giving to a family member as a gift) and a Pandoras box 3 520 in 1 that I am happy enough with, so some type of multi in 1 board is an option.
MAME with computer. I can probably fit a small mother board or NUC inside and run MAME on that.
Rasberry Pi 2. It might be fun to mess around with one of those, but I imagine it would take fair amount time to get it running correctly.
What would you choose and why?

INTEL NUC.
Why? Not the cheapest but runs the most games and connects to the most peripherals. Will also run hyperspin and hyperspin is the bee's knees.
You might also check with PBJ, he loves Bartops and will give you an honest opinion. :)

I have 2 of the Gigabyte Brix (their Nuc), both with celeron processors, but both run most classic games great. And as a bonus the low end ones have a VGA connector for those old LCDs that only have that, but also have HDMI. Can buy kits prepopulated or barebones versions as well.
