i got the newest MAME version and the CHD games arent working they say found bad checksum or something like that. they worked in .77 fine. anyone know what thats all about?

Did you update the CHDs? I undertsand that the new version of MAME uses the "new and improved" CHD images, which are smaller. (I haven't updated yet, so I can't tell you for sure if this is the problem... but it probably is).

You need to update your CHD's using the CHDMAN utility. Information is included in the whats new file. Basically u need to open a command prompt to your mame directory and execute the update command. For example to update KI you would type "chdman -update roms\kinst\kinst.chd rom\kinst\kinst1.chd". Kinst1.chd would be the updated file. All you have to do after that is delete the original chd file and rename Kinst1.chd to Kinst.chd.
