I am having a major issue with getting my aimtrak light guns to work in mame. I am running windows 7 64bit and have calibrated fine in ultimarc utility and can use the guns as mouse pointers across my desktop with no issues. I've followed their instructions on their site to edit the .ini file in Mame, that didn't work. I then followed about 20 other how-to's I found online editing the .ini file in a number of ways with no success. Basically when I go into Mame and hit Tab to change the controls, first off the guns will not show as "Gun 1" or "Gun 2", they only show as Mouse 1, and once I was able to get the 2nd to show as Mouse 2. And they are near impossible to set the controls for in mame. It doesn't matter if I barely flinch at all, I get Mouse-X and Mouse-Y for just the X setting, or just the Y setting. It's like it detects up/side movement regardless of how I stand etc. I've verified there is no light reflecting and tried every trick to set the X/Y (up/down) settings to no avail. When I see how it looks at any rate on the screen the crosshairs jump all over the screen and are unusable. I've tried every trick in the book and went over my .ini file with a fine tooth comb. I can't for the life figure this out. they worked fine on my old xp setup with Mame. And outside of Mame they work fine on the desktop with the Ultimarc software. They are set for separate ID's as well and I've verified that lightgun is set for lightgun in the mamegui. They are set to mouse in the ultimarc software and I've followed their instructions on setting them up in that software as well. I can post my .ini file or any screen shots needed. I would be sincerely grateful if someone could help me. I'm running out of ideas and hair at this point!

Something is wrong with your Mame.ini. Post your settings and I'll see what it is. I went through the same thing.

If you can help me line this out I swear you are my favorite person at least for a week lol. Here is my config and keep in mind I've tweaked this at least 4 or 5 times changing the 1/0 etc on what I was told to try. I'm all ears though. I'm running windows 7 pro 64 bit, no other issues. I can get Utilimarc settings if need be also, or the mameui settings etc. Anything to help someone help me with this! Thanks,

Change dual_lightgun to 0 at the end. If that doesn't solve it, change the lightgun_device to "mouse"

I'm not on my cab at the moment. Tomorrow morning I'll look at my ini and give you my settings if the ones I said above don't fix it.

Tried and same results. It still shows as "Mouse 1" in Mame and when I barely move the gun up/down it always shows mouse-x and mouse-y for the control mapping. When I try a game it's the same thing, crosshairs are blue/red and both jump all over the screen etc. No clue what I'm doing wrong. If anyone has their .ini file for mame working with aimtrak lightguns please share. I'm lost at this point. Maybe I should remove the guns and ultimarc software etc and start over? Thanks!

Well you rock! That allows my lightgun to show as gun 1 now and allowed me to calibrate!! Now I just have to figure out why both guns show as gun 1 in mame and I should hopefully be on my way! they have separate id's in the utilimarc software program so just gotta figure this last part out.

How many components does your rig have? I set my aimtrak IDs to 3 and 4 because I have a ton more stuff including 4 ultrastiks, utrak, spinner and 2 Xbox controllers. You might also want to check out controllerremapGUI to help keep your gun IDs permanent

will check that out so thank you!! I only have my xarcade dual player controller hooked via usb up, other than a mini keyboard/mouse pad and the 2 aimtrak guns. I will try making them 3/4 and see what happens. I'm close now, so thanks!!

I just received 2 aimtrack guns from ultimarc a few days ago. Here's hoping my setup goes smoothly!!
