Title: Warpaint! paint for the paint gods!
Post by: Generic Eric on July 07, 2015, 09:56:14 am
Do you paint miniatures?  Post your pics.

I don't have much painted.  I have a primed Commander who's cape I started to paint.  Otherwise, I have an assault squad primed.

Recently, I have acquired the game Space Hulk and the issue of Warhammer 75 with the free Stormcaster dude.  So, plenty of painting to do.

No pics just yet.

Post pics of your armies or terrain.

I got back into a couple years ago (along with Gunpla), although I paint pretty sporadically.  Here's a few older WIPs:

I never played any warhammer/spacehulk stuff but I did do a lot of miniature painting in my teen years. I even had a little side "business" of painting eyeballs for those without the steady hand required to do so. $2 a pair! I gave them all away except one that I was really proud of, though I have no idea where it is. If I come across it I will post a pic! I even just recently got some macro extension tubes with circuitry for my dslr!

Does it count that I drew new faces on my lego people after the originals wore off?

My minis seem to end up in the same state as my cabs, playable but not fully finished. Just getting into Warmachine now and picked up a small army recently. Will post some pics when I get some work done on them.

I got into it briefly in high school.  We painted the hell out of those Hero's Quest figurines.  Did a little bit of pewter casting.  Didn't get into War Hammer at all.  Kind of funny that it was one of the original pay to win games if you think about it.

Never understood those "NOT FOR SALE" displays of the painted ones in game stores, personally.  But my motto is "everything is for sale always" so I guess I don't get clingy about dust collectors.

I have hundreds of minis from over 3 decades of RPG/Tabletop gaming but most of them are still unpainted.  Out of the ones I have painted, I would have to say that the majority of them have at best an average paint job, I have a handful I am proud of.  I never really got good at it.

A few years ago I had a lot of fun kitbashing/building Games Workshop models.  I found I enjoy the construction/green stuff a lot more than I do the painting.

Yeah, I understand that.  It's so cool watching the stuff take shape, especially when you are modding something to match your own vision instead of the modelers.

The game is decided in the Wallet opening phase.

Really depends on the group you are playing with.  My gaming groups routinely allowed chits when we didn't have proper models.  For the longest time I'd field a 40x40mm piece of cardboard with the words "Vermin Lord" in sharpie because I couldn't afford the model.
