I just dont get the love for that game. I gave the first one an honest go, never finished it. Fired up the second out of curiosity , to say I have no interest in the third would be an understatement.

I played about halfway through the first one and enjoyed it.  Never bothered with the second one.  A lot of what made it interesting has been ripped off and improved so many times that it's entered the "Seinfeld Isn't Funny" territory.

Yep, especially the interactive cutscene crap where you randomly have to hit x or left or whatever in a time limit. One of shenmue's claims to fame at the time.

I actually love the theme and basic concept that you are in an open world tracking down a murderer and working odd jobs to get by. The fact that you weren't spending your time grinding, and enemies weren't just there to drop items and improve XP was a nice change from the norm. Slow game though,

I know I have posted this video before, but it really captures the oddness of Shenmue. Walking through an entire city and asking every random person on the street questions that would normally be very creepy.

It turns out the kickstarter was just a ruse to see if there was interest.  Sony is funding it but they wouldn't give them the money unless the kickstarter was successful.

So that's yet another shadie kickstarter b.s. session right there.  Seriously how much longer is that program going to continue before someone sues the pants off of them?

Anyway, it'll be a ps4 exclusive now, which is hilarious considering the demographic that would want the game most likely have a Wii U.

I never got the appeal of the game either.  It's boring as hell.  It reminds me of the awful early sections of a Zelda game where you have to tediously go around and talk to everyone before you can start the fun stuff... except... the fun stuff never comes, that IS the game.

Kickstarter has been co-opted by big business. It was supposed to be for people who couldn't get traditional funding. That ex-Konami dude's Castlevania ripoff, the ex-Capcom due's MegaMan ripoff, and others never belonged on Kickstarter. Those weirdos all had traditional funding lined up. Even the Oculus Rift was ---smurf-poo---. People fund it on Kickstarter so they can sell out to Facebook? Whatever.

And yes, Shenmue was always terrible, but fanboys will be fanboys.
