Title: Inserts for MDF
Post by: D_Harris on March 04, 2015, 04:32:15 pm
Can I get advice for the best inserts for use in MDF?

I made controls panels out of the material used in counter-tops and need to mount the joysticks in a routed out portion and was looking at the inserts at GGG and Ultimarc. They are not the same. One set is flanged and the other is not.

Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Both kinds work fine since the outer threads are the wide/flat/thin kind described here (http://newwiki.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?title=FAQ#Hardware) in the FAQ.

The kind to avoid for MDF are the ones with outer threads that look like normal screw threads.

Thanks.

And about the insert/screw material. What is the best between Zinc, Stainless, Brass, & Black oxide?

Thanks.
