After 2 months of work I have finally completed 99% of my first Mame cab.
All controls are working, coin door lights up and works.
The only remaining tasks are to hook up/test the light gun and to load additional emulators.
Really fits in nice in the gameroom, seems to be getting a lot of use so far.
Currennt Config:
AMD 2500 512 Meg Ram
27" Happ Monitor
Onboard 5.1 sound
Inspire 2500 2.1 Speakers/sub
MSI Geforce 4 64 MB

Wow, that is impressive. I like the way you have managed to get all those controls and buttons on there without making it look completely ridiculous. Nice work. I hope mine ends up half as good.

Looks like the plans came from Supercade?

davidsz,
Nice work, that's a huge monitor, no need to rotate that to play veryical games. Does a monitor like that just plug into the back of your computer? Or do you need something like one of those ArcadeVGA things?
-
I based it on the Supercade website. I found that I ended up using those plans very loosely as a starting point since they are more of a drawing then a plan. The angles for the Control Panel are a little challenging and depend on how big you make the panel itself.
I added a 4th button on players 3 & 4
I added a keyboard drawer also.
I also changed the shape a little to fit my taste.
One thing that is very important is to have you monitor or the dimensions when building your cab. I had the dimensions and created a model to use until I purchased the monitor. I only have 1/4" to spare for the monitor to fit to the back.
The monitor is a HAPP 27" viewable monitor and plugs directly into the back of the computer.

Bentley Bear demands to have his Crystal Castles trackball back!!!!
Just kidding (but that IS a Crystal Castles trackball, right?),
You should light the trackball with a keyboard LED, that way it will flash all cool and stuff.
