Title: Advance Mame/Wells Gardner K7000 Series Help!
Post by: owlicks on December 16, 2003, 03:27:59 pm
I just got a Wells Gardner 25 inch K7194 monitor (7000 series).  I dunno if anyone else is using Advance Mame with this monitor, but the 7000 series has a 15.1 Khz HSync rate, whereas Advance Mame depends on you to have a 15.75 Khz rate.  When I try to use the advv.exe utility it thinks none of the resolutions are supported by my monitor.  Is there a workaround around this?  If I try to run the advv utility with the Hsync at 15.75 in advmame.rc it'll scroll the screen on advv up and down like my vertical hold is off.  Surely someone out there has to have figured a way around this :(

You'll need to enter in a custom range, try the one below

pclock 5-90
hclock 15.1
vclock 50-60

then select easy centering and adjust the hight to 224 lines (shift k). You'll probably need an ati rage 3d, or an ATI 128 Pro (recommened) to get such a low pclock.

the default 15.75 would put your setup at
240x60=14400
14400/15100=.953
95.3% is really high, probably undoable.

I am trying to run ArcadeOS w/ advanceMame with this same monitor. I am having difficulty setting a centering/size in advcfg.exe that works for all modes. I am able to display older vertical resolution games right now but when I play more modern horizontal games I get distortion on vertical lines. Any help greatly appreciated. (I am using an ATI Mach64 card in case this is usefull)

Hats off to whoever runs http://www.mameworld.net/dosmame/ as I discovered he uses a k7000 type monitor and had his .rc file posted. I copied it and saved in my setup and almost all games are displaying properly now.
