Title: picture of sideart done on the cheap
Post by: eightbit on December 10, 2003, 03:13:43 pm
I printed this at work on a HP designjet 800 (42" inkjet) and it turned out pretty good. I clearcoated it with a clear glossy sealer and attached it with spray adhesive. I think it turned out pretty sweet, especially considering it cost under $10 (clear coat and adhesive).

Looks sweet!  I recently did some art in a similar manner on my bro's DJ 800c (I think that is the model) and I was thoroughly impressed/satisfied with the results.

I kind of did the same thing. (With the same pic!  ;D)
I found some "bumper-sticker" inkjet paper at Bestbuy.  Its basically 8 1/2"x11" blank sticker paper.  Its semi-glossy and fairly sturdy.  I just printed my pic spanning a couple of pages and stuck it on. I like it and it was dirt cheap!  ;D

Wow, that's one of the better cabinets I've seen. Great job man!

What type of paper are you using for your graphic print outs?

Looks good (the image quality)!

I don't like the scrambled figures type bezels, marqees, overlays, whatever...

But no offense dude, it's just my point of View! Congrats great job! :)

Cooper,

I assume that you printed on the front since the sticker is on the back.  How does it hold up for smudging, touching, spilled drinks, etc?

Hey Rocky!
The paper seems to handle touching and such pretty well.  I didn't put it anywhere but the sides so its not like it gets touched a lot.  I let it dry over night before handling so I had no problems with smudges either.  As for spills, I don't know.

Cooper,

Thanks for the reply. One more thing...

Is the seam where you fit the art work together noticable. In the picture, you can't even tell.  I think I'm going to try this and see how it works for me.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Rocky,
There is a small seam where the two sheets meet.  If you take your time while applying the stickers it's not too bad though.  A casual glance will never notice it, but you can see it if you get up close and start looking for it.  I think of this as a very small price to pay for all the money I saved by doing my side art this way.  Good luck and Happy New Year!!
