Yeah, and technically they're in the right.
What does your art look like?

That's one of the problems with many copy shops. U.S. copyright includes a "Fair Use" clause and a one off for personal use for something like this definitely falls under that category. But a lot of copy places will completely ignore the fair use clause as a blanket policy.

Just send it to SoulDraw or some other online vendor.

Sometimes going to the same shop at a different time will get different results --- everyone interprets the rules differently.

never had a problem with kinkos. worst case, Soul Draw will print anything, including tentacle porn.

kinkos i was making nes bit box and they refuse to print box art " Copyright" i Think in my area is like that cus is a small place....Already send email to Soul Draw. Thanks

I ran into the same issues until I told them it was for "restoration purposes only." Then they had no problem with it. My local print shop will print anything I bring them as long as it is for "restoration purposes only."
