This is a new PC build and my testing shows that the display is working but with a lot less than the 160 modes suggested - more like 20.
Not sure which step I'm missing. I did the following:
1. Installed ATI card driver from the crt_emudriver package.
2. Unzipped CRT_Emudriver
3. Edited VMMAKER.INI and specified MameExe location. Changed Monitortype from "CUSTOM" to "GENERIC"
Ran C:\VMMAKER\VMMAKER.EXE.
Rebooted.
I mostly followed the instructions here (http://forum.arcadeotaku.com/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=24216), which worked very well.
You can see from the attached screenshot of the available modes that most of them are different frequencies of 640x480.
Should I be getting any more modes with that hardware combo? Do I need any more? I'm using groovymame, which games should I test?

Hi zorrobandito,
If you're using a recent version of GM, make sure to download the latest VMMaker available here (1.3c): http://mame.3feetunder.com/windows-ati-crt-emudriver/ (http://mame.3feetunder.com/windows-ati-crt-emudriver/)
Older versions are not able to parse the new XML format from recent MAME versions.

Thanks Calamity, I'll download and try it tonight!

Great suggestion, that worked a treat!
The only lingering problem I have is that I am sometimes returned to the Hyperspin menu in the resolution of the previous game.

after installing the ati drivers there should be around 1xx resolutions available in windows. u can try a normal guimame to check out the available resolutions , or arcade osd .
