Was sourcing a bulb for my buck hunter unit then realized the light was never hooked up. The wires are for the switch. How would I power this thing? Through the switching power supply connection seen in the pic or through one of the spares on the jamma harness?

If you want it to light all the time, as soon as the game is powered up, check the bulb to see if it is 5V or 12V and hook one end up to that lug on the power supply, and the other end to ground.
If you want it to light up when the game sends a signal to light it, you'll need to find the correct wire in the harness, and the other end goes to ground.
I have about 20 of these Big BUck Hunters, and none of them have lighted buttons though, so I'm not sure if yours is different than mine, or maybe yours was originally a different game that was turned into a BBH, and the bulb and socket are left over from the old machine wiring.

That's what ended up doing (pulling 5volts of my power supply). Lit up fine. I'm thinking this unit was something else as the cabinet was done in blue and grey Formica. Thanks for the help.

AAAK! don't power it all the time. the UV and the heat from the bulb will cause the plastic to become brittle and crack. the plastic is not the best to begin with.
source: seen it 100 times with these buck hunter buttons
the jamma harness could (depending on version of the system) have a lead FOR the button lights to turn them on after the appropriate amount of coins have been put in.
should you feel the need to power them all the time consider going LED

Nice. I didn't know that but makes sense. Will look at the Jamma Harness when I get a chance. Would rather it turned on and off with game.
