Hi,
I'm Dave and I have been around the forums for awhile now.
My last build was a full upright cab, and I posted that in the woodworking section ( about 3 or so years ago ).
However, these past few months I have spent some time making a cocktail cabinet.
I was going to announce the build when I initially started construction, but I knew that I wouldn't be able to stick to my
allotted time-frame, and decided to post here once I had the cab fully complete instead ( Or at least fully constructed )
Well, here is my blueprint for the cab, it isn't a proper sketch by any means, but it was something I had to draw just to get
my head around what I was going to build and what sort of scale I was going to build to.
I decided to try and make the best cabinet I could, so I have thrown the kitchen sink at it and put a lot of time and effort in to
making it the best I've produced. Not only on a productive level, but also in terms of design, aesthetics and playability.

I'm not a man of many words, so instead I made video's on the whole build. Here is part 1:
This is a short video showing the initial construction :)

Part 2 is pretty much a continuation and follows my progress in the same manner / video style as part 1.

Part 3 is where I mix it up and show you the long way of how I went about the final stages of the build.
I'm not fully 100% finished with the cabinet, while it is indeed fully constructed, I still need to do the fine detailing like computer hardware and software.
But here is part 3, its much much longer than any of my other video's and I think, it's probably one of my best:

Here is where I stand at this point in time:

I have to add the glass top, throw in the pc parts, and then finish off the wiring. So that's about another 2 weeks worth of work.
I'm currently attending college so I have very little time to spend on it, but I hope to have it completed within this fortnight.
Take a look at the vids, let me know what you think :)

I love it. Job well done. Artwork, shape, everything looks great. If I were to ever build a cocktail cab this would be what I would go with.

Very nice!

Cheers guys :)
Yeah, just got to get some glass cut for the top and then it'll be fully finished ;D
Still have to add a front-end and stuff, but most of the roms are already on it so I don't have too much left to do, thankfully.

Your name sounds so familiar! Did you happen to frequent the Carvewright forums in the past few years? I know I've seen your posts before somewhere.
-
No, I have not been on those forums I'm afraid.
I am only here on byoac, and sometimes, rarely, on mameAddicts.
I posted a full build in the woodworking section a few years back, maybe that is where you saw my name, or else you probably
saw an old vid of mine on youtube or something :)

That's awesome! How do you get the video duplicated like that for non cocktail games such as street fighter you demo'd? I never thought that a cocktail could also be used for non-cocktail 2-player games!

MAME lets you mirror/flip any game in the options menu so you can use it on a cocktail cabinet... it's pretty awesome!
Great looking cab!

I recently added a demo of this cab and how I made the glass for it also.
Have a look if you're interested :)
