Hey guys, here is my config:
xp pro
mamewah 962
mame 77b
arcadevga, mkII cab w/ 25" wells gardner.
From mamewah when I start vertical games such as galaga, the bottom of the screen goes below the monitor. How do I get it so I can see the whole screen with these games? Also sometimes the screen jumps.
Under mame32 I was able to kinda fix this stuff by turning hardware stretching off but I am new to real mame which I need to use mamewah.
Also, I forgot the command to use to test all of my mame roms.
thanks a ton for your help guys, this messageboard is a great learning tool!!

I'll go from easy to hard as far as things to try:
Adjust the Vertical Size pot.
Configure Mame resolutions automatically with the AVRes utiliy: http://ultimarc.com/avgainst.html.
I have the ArcadeVGA with a WG25k7191 25 inch monitor that came with Super Street Fighter II. I could be wrong but it's probably very similar to yours (7000 series?), if it's not identical. For a long time I was having trouble running at certain resolutions, most notably Galaga/vertical games. Even when I squashed the screen with the Vertical Size pot as far as it would go, the bottom of the screen would be cut off. Sometimes it would also curl back on itself at the bottom of the screen. Someone introduced me to a pot located on the main board of the monitor that helped me to fix it:

Take a look at the second picture. It's a pot that I adjusted that helped me get rid of the screen curl/squashing.
Hope this helps.

I think you are probably having trouble with vertical games with 288 lines. I expect your screen is adjusted to display ~240-256 lines (perfect for horizontal games).
You could try my 'ArcadeVGA MAME Resolution Tool' (MAMEWAH downloads page), as an alternative to AVRES, as it gives the option to use different modes for games >x lines. I personally use this to use a different mode for these games (I use 640x480 hwstretch, not authentic I know, but I like having a perfect horizontal setup).
