Just finished a second Ms. Pac cocktail table that I just delivered to my cousin as a wedding/housewarming present. I was going to build some fight sticks, but am having problems sourcing a specific cable so that has been scrapped. Now I find myself with a crapload of hardware and nothing to do... Any suggestions? ???

I'm in the mood to see your take on a JUKEBOX build.
Checkmate, Unstupid.
;)

Jukebox sounds nice. I am in the same boat, free time, parts, wood I have in surplus.
I think I am going to build a all in one control panel that has a computer in it.....Not sure though. Getting bored making the same cabinets.
I vote jukebox or some off the wall pc game flight controller rig. I wanted to build one for Kerbal Space Station, love that game.

Dude. I *JUST* designed this today! Lol. Great minds, I guess!

Can you show some designs or something. Thinking about starting it tomorrow, maybe tonight if I can't sleep. Would be nice to have some extra ideas floating around the old noggin.

Not really a music jukebox appreciating kinda person... Kinda thinking about taking on a viewlix cab... Would anyone want to see that? ???
-
I would
-
How about a versus cab? You don't see those being made very often. They usually look like Nephasth's Two-Headed Beast, where the two parts are at an angle. But you could just as well merge two viewlix cabs back-to-back. It would also be nice if it would have the option to operate in different modes:
-one side working only
-both sides working and displaying the same image
-both sides working separately, meaning both can run different games.

Either Viewlix or Nintendo Red Tent-style so players can trash-talk over the top. >:D

You can use a KVM switch + audio switch (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,133192.msg1372593.html#msg1372593) to change from independent to linked mode without plugging/unplugging cables.

Cab 1's computer needs a video card with 2 outputs -- one for cab 1's monitor (not shown) and the other goes to the KVM switch for cab 2's monitor.

Still A WIP.........but just something to get your gears going....

Ah that is pretty cool rablack. Never thought of a marquee on one.
My thoughts would be just the CP itself free standing.

Like that except with arcade controls on it for 2 player.

It's mod of sharpfork's barstick design....

Why not take the idea of a Vs cabinet and make it four player? Could wire it so it could work like four standalones with the ability to be switched over and be used for gauntlet or tmnt etc.

I'm glad you said that. I just got back to read that this thread has blown up, and to be honest, I thought I had some kind of original idea here... ...and now I feel dumb.
;)
Not really. My design is definitely not as 'high tech' as others here. I had simply created a basic control panel, with enough depth to support the PC hardware internals. Here's a not-so-quick render of what I had in mind... (Go-go Solidworks, awaaaaaaaaaaaay!)

Yeah, I was thinking about trying to make a cheap as possible bartop design for noobs that could be squeezed out of a single 2x4 sheet of 1/2" MDF.
This might a be better way to go.
-
Have a bash at this if you like... ;D

IMHO.... 2 player stand alone control panels are stupid. If you are going to build a bar stick with a built in computer, build it as a 1 player stick, then if you want to add another player make a separate stick and plug it in to the first one with a 6' USB cable. No sense rubbing shoulders with someone if you don't have to. Ya know what I mean! ;)

What exactly do you have?
New school Sanwa/Semitsu stuff or old school Happ style stuff?
Do you just have controls, or also a PC?
I have everything.... Joysticks (IL, JLF, JLW, Namco Reunion), Pushbuttons (only about 50 American style, >200 30mm Sanwa OSBN), Trackballs, LCD Monitors (from 12"-32"), Encoders (Xin-Mo, Kade, PS360+), about 1000' of t-molding in almost every color and size, Arcade power supplies, I have a couple of extra Neo Geo MV1C mobos lying around, and all kinds of other stupid stuff.... I'd sell stuff, but shipping from here sux unless you are merchant and do it for a living...

I dunno about that one......the one i'm building has plenty of space....the guy didnt want a full arcade and it's for him and his wife to use....
so you build to suit the buyer.....
this what you have in mind?
Lokesen (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,108702.0.html) crushed that already......
So each build will have it's own special feature, i added speakers, a fan to keep the hands dry, glow underneath and still portable....
LOL, if being too close was a problem, they would of put USB ports on arcade games and said bring your on stick.....
Regardless to each his own......
MAKE A DECISION, QUIT STALLING AND START BUILDING....

A coffee table v-pin.
Viewlix style cab with a rotating screen that moves to a point centered with player 1 when it is vertical.
Bartop triplets: tweetle vert solo, tweetle hor solo, & tweetle widescreen dual player.
A cab for sports games with 4 players and two trackballs.
I might be getting a free gutted cab and plan to turn it into a Polybius if the deal works out.
Not sure it will come to fruition and it wouldn't be the first Polybius, so have at it if you're interested in making a Polybius cab.
I'd be interested to see your take on it. I'll be limited to the current cab shape. You don't have to be.
The shape of the machine in this fake cover is interesting:
