If I wanted a light gun with a pedal and recoil, Which gun is the best? i used to have a super jolt which was pretty good but the sensor was located a bit low, which caused your aim to be off.
Any suggestions would be great. If only Happs guns would work on mame cabs :( sigh

Not much of a choice these days.
Kevin did a great review of the different options that work with mame.
Actlabs takes it for accuracy.... unfortunately.... Good but not great...

Lilwolf, this is the Console forum, light guns are a whole different issue here. ;) Light guns here are plentiful and accurate (for the most part).
Shieldwolf, I think there is an official Time Crisis gun for PS2, one would think that'd be the best for Time Crisis. ;)

Tom you're right about it being a light gun and not mame. Also the guncon is great, but has no kickback like the real game. I'm looking for something like the superjolt, but with the light sensor higher on the gun perhaps.

There are some overseas console guns with recoil (but its nothing like the real arcade). Just check ebay. You best bet would be just to modify your own gun (or get a real recoil gun and mod it with guncon2 parts). The kickback usually requires some other external power so be prepared for a difficult project.

Looks like a good deal (for that price) with the pedal, but you have to be aware that most console guns that say "with recoil" they really mean they have force feedback (rumble) built in. So you "feel every shot". I've seen one that has a real sliding part on the top, but its so weak you barley feel it (only hear it clicking and that gets annoying). So just be aware its not going to be the same experience as the arcade.
As for the pedal, being made of plastic, it probably ends up tipping over more times than pressing down :). Maybe if you secure it and replace the spring with something more stiff it would be good.

I have a super jolt and I will say it really had a recoil. It kicked back just like the arcade. only problem is the actual sensor is placed lower than it should be.
-
why don't you just dremel that thing and move the sensor?
-
OMG
I can't dremel to save my life. LOL. My gun would look like swiss cheese

well i just got two light guns. the p99g2 is a great light gun with recoil and aim. The downsides to this gun are its lite weight and plastic feel. Other than that a true time crisis gun
-
what company makes that gun? have a link for pics?
-
do a search for recoil light gun on ebay. it sells for 14.99
I'm on location on a shoot and won't be back till the weekend I'll try and post a pic then

please tell me youre a photographer for playboy ;D

How do you interface the p99g2 to a PC? It's the PS2 version right? I've had a hunch that they might just work plugged straight into the USB since the PS2 uses standard USB drivers. Does the PC detect it as a light pen as I"ve suspected? Or do you need some sort of interface/driver for it?
Please excuse all the questions. I've suspected that these guns would work with my PC for a while now and haven't been able to find anyone who has tried it. Everytime, I've asked I've just been told to go buy and ActLabs gun. So, I'm a bit excited to see that someone else has apparently had success with a PS2 gun!

Ooops. My bad. I did a search and this came up. I didn't realize that it was the consoles section. Drat, back to the drawing board! lol
