I am trying to find a driving game that I liked in the 80's. All i remember is that it was an upright cabinet with a steering wheel and there was a vertical road with multiple lanes. You needed to avoid the other cars and there were levels were you drove in the dark (with headlights) and on ice.
Thanks!

Did it have an ambulance once in awhile?
Maybe Turbo?

I do not remember if there was an ambulance... But it was not Turbo. On Youtube I saw that Turbo has a 3D road and the game I remember looked more like: http://youtu.be/sFujJJmW8zc (http://youtu.be/sFujJJmW8zc) - a vertical, multi lane road from bottom to top.
Thanks!

Sure sounds like Turbo to me.

Looking closer at Monaco GP, it looks very similar, but not sure this is the one...
-
It still might be Turbo because I remember it being like that Monaco GT,not so much looking forward like Turbo is. You might remember it differently like I did but Turbo does have times when it goes in night time as well as rain as I remember it.

Sure sounds like Monaco GP to me. It has all those things you mention.
-
It might actually be Monaco GP or something very similar. If anybody can think of other games that look similar, that would be great...
-
I bet it's Monaco. Unfortunately, it's not in MAME.
-
Yup, totally made me think of Monaco GP. But since you don't remember when seeing it, I suggest you not care.
@yotsuya: it's in HBEMAME, but I think it still doesn't support analog controls.....
-
First thing that comes to mind for me is Night Driver. It doesn't fit the description exactly but I figured I'd try anyway.
-
So I asked my brother and it is similar to Monaco GP, but it's not Monaco... He found Grand Champion - I will have to play with it some more - maybe this is the one?
-
OK - this one looks promising: http://flyers.arcade-museum.com/?page=flyer&db=videodb&id=4057&image=2 (http://flyers.arcade-museum.com/?page=flyer&db=videodb&id=4057&image=2)
The lights looked just like that. I also remember ambulances. No evidence to MAME support though...

I didn't get the game you're talking about. But here I'm sharing a Nintendo game (my favorite childhood game) which looks similar to your game.
Road Fighter

Play it once, I'm sure you're gonna like it.
