Title: Anyone ever "flip" bezel art?
Post by: nagamitsu on June 13, 2013, 08:16:05 pm
Ok, have tried my hand at it so far, but I don't think the cut out area for the monitor has kept its original size. Situation is that my cabinet is Ms. Pacman, and I'm keeping that theme. The monitor however is set horizontal, not the original vertical. I'm trying to take an existing PNG file of the Ms. Pacman bezel, and essentially rotate the art and stretch it so it encompasses horizontal monitor layout.

Suggestions? Or anyone done such a thing with success?

Should be able to do that fairly easily-- just make a template to the size you need it to wind up and then import the existing bezel and resize until it fits the new template (need to make the template both to the dimensions of the entire area and to the cut out for the monitor) Though it may need to be adjusted some to make it look correct. Pretty much the same as creating a new bezel would be done.

Looking at the ms pacman bezel it should be easy to just resize the outer art by either cutting or duplicating and adding more of the outline area that does not have any characters or writing in that area to keep the same layout with the new cutout size.

Thanks! Tried again after posting this and believe I got it just right. Not perfect, but should work! Just a matter of making sure the monitor cut out area was same dimension, but just horizontal.

The easiest way to do that would be use the rectangular selection tool and select the cut out area - copy\paste that selection to a new layer -then use transform (Ctrl-T) and rotate 90 degrees to create the cut out template then work the rest of the art around that template keeping the template as a separate layer for visual reference -- by doing this you keep the same exact cut out dimensions just in the opposite rotation.
