Title: Operation Wolf Joystick/Gun Mod
Post by: Chris John Hunter on June 06, 2013, 03:22:05 pm
Hi

I just worked out how easy it is to make your own Op Wolf gun.

I hacked open this, http://www.amazon.co.uk/ThrustMaster-2960623-Thrustmaster-USB-Joystick/dp/B00006AMA2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1370546197&sr=8-1&keywords=joystick+pc (http://www.amazon.co.uk/ThrustMaster-2960623-Thrustmaster-USB-Joystick/dp/B00006AMA2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1370546197&sr=8-1&keywords=joystick+pc)

Moving the buttons around. I now have a custom controller. I intend to use the stripey button as a trigger for the gun and use wood to construct a frame. Then I will buy a realistic TOY gun and break it open reposition the buttons and put the frame of the toy over it so I have a gun. I will put extra weight in it to make it realistic.

I will post pics when I get going.

A Op Wolf gun is basically a normal joystick with a molded gun frame over the top.

why not use the real hardware and stick the guts of the thrustmaster in it?

check my pot threads and the dual stick xbox pc ps1 ps2 stick thread's to see what I mean.

when I am done the old school best of thrustmaster gameports style will soon be converted over to plug and play usb for modern pc's if people are interested wich I'm sure they will be once the word is out.

everything out there to date looks and feels like junk except there new 400 cougar but I can get the same out of the old school one's for a heck of a lot less and my pot replacements would be readily available where there's are not.

I would love to. Problem is they cost a packet here in the UK. They are heavy too as i remember might need to reinforce my control panel.

for a plug and play have you looked in the aimtrak by ultimarc.

that has the gut, or the casing for the gun shell or both if needed.

and I know what you mean I wanted one for my cab to but they are pricey.

you may want to look into the T2 guns also.

Yeah, either an aimtrack or a wiimote put inside a uzi toy shell is a far more universal option.  It isn't as cheap, but you get what you pay for.

Still trying to figure out why this is in the consoles section btw.  ;)
