Bought my second pin on the weekend, tales from the crypt. Can anyone tell me if I'm missing a plastic piece here? This image is taken right at the crypt enhance. There is that metal extension sticking out without anything on it. I can't find a picture that shows anything on there on other machines.

The IPDB (http://www.ipdb.org/machine.cgi?id=2493) entry has this picture that doesn't show the extension.

It's weird, I saw another picture on klov with the same extention as mine with nothing attached. I'm highly doubting that it's the same machine that I have. That one from ipdb doesn't even look like there is a hole there where the metal piece would go into. Hmm the mystery remains...

Sort of hard to see on my phone but check out post 10 in this thread. If you look closely you can see the metal piece sticking out.

Minor differences like this are fairly common. These things are assembled by hand, remember, and tweaks are made during the production run.

I bet someone used that hex extension post instead of a simple nut because it's what they had on hand. Or maybe it prevents balls from jamming between the VUK wireform and flasher dome. I would take it off and replace with a hex nut and see what happens.

Could be there as a production tweak after complaints of stuck balls in that location. Especially if this was made during a second production run. Sounds like as good an explanation as any.
-
I made a post on klov as well and those guys said all of there's have the hole there for the post (even if their post is missing). It's supposed to be to prevent ball jams in that area. Makes sense I guess. You would think they could have come up with something a little more into the theme like an axe or candle or something other than just an ugly metal piece haha.

So put one there yourself. You already have the mount point.

That's a really good idea! I should give myself a little bang on the head for not thinking of that myself.
Anybody have any other cool ideas of little things I could attach there?
I saw a small little tftc plastic key chain token that might look Ok there. Possibly a little gruesome action figure head mounted on there... I'm open to suggestions.

Pull off the head, mount it via that screw hole, profit.

I've owned a couple of TFTCs
By the date on my current one it's from the last run.
It has the hex post installed.
My kids are into Trash Packs - some really suit the TFTC theme.
I'm planning on adding a couple around the playfield.
BRAD - I was talking with you year ago re the HAPP servo Logiteck hack. Were you messing with the MOMO??
What did you end up doing?
Finished?

I was using the logitech driving force. I'm still using the happ servo setup, haven't had any problems with it so I stopped messing with it. It's sort of finished... but nothing is every really finished :P. I'm bad at updating my project threads but I have a few on the go all the time and I have in the back of my head that if I get a chance this summer I'll be doing a driving cab overhaul. Basically new audio, rewire whole cabinet properly (it's sort of messy because it got to the "it works" stage... I have some 50 ft vga cable in it where I only need a 6 ft lol) Little things like that.
