Title: German Font 1967
Post by: SavannahLion on April 21, 2013, 11:20:13 pm
Is there such a way to identify a specific common font used for a time period?

I'm looking for a common font used in 1967 to spell out Berchtesgaden.

But there are so many font variations, often from one year to the next that it's mind bit boggling. Here is an example of some bank notes (http://www.banknoten.de/index.php?language=en&cat=c1262&cPath=626_829_1350_1262&) from about 1917 to about 1930ish. The name Berchtesgaden is fairly plain but the rest of the bank note is really stylized.

I was thinking of going with the plain font used but it looks well... plain. I'm trying to get an "old" feel for the font. Any ideas?

Not quite sure if it'll help any, but you might find something useful here... http://www.morscher.com/3r/fonts/fraktur.htm (http://www.morscher.com/3r/fonts/fraktur.htm)
