Title: Wiimote as light gun

Hi! I have seen lots of videos where people are using a wiimote as a pointing device on a computer but I have no idea what to get to make it work. I know that you need a Bluetooth adapter and a wiimote but what do you need to make it work as a pointer?

I think ppl still use glovepie.

Search the software forum for the glovepie scripts.

Always takes me 10 minutes of fiddling around with it to get it to connect and then I get the blue screen of death if I try to pair a second gun.
Ok to mess around with and play some games once you get it paired, but not good for integrating into a front-end yet IMO.

I use the toshiba bluetooth stack and glovepie scripts for mame and model 2 (dolphin does not need a script). its a pain to finally get right and still works like a mouse and not a gun but, it beats paying $100 for an actual lightgun. Also DO NOT USE 3rd party controllers.

 :'(   ....but the guns look so much better.

Actually, that's probably why I get the BSOD when I try to pair the second one.
I vaguely remember reading somewhere about cheap 3rd party controllers not having unique IDs and screwing things up.

Yea, when I first tried it, i bought 3rd party wii gun and it did not work at all. Hours of googling lead to consensus that 3rd party does not work.  I tried it again with an original controller and it works fine. Another issue is reloading. The A button is on top and most wii guns cases do not have a proper way to trigger it. I found it easier to connect the nunchuck and map it the reload button. The gun is in my right hand and the nunchuck in my left.

Sell the Wii and Wiimotes and buy an Aimtrak gun from Ultimarc.

It's funny. When I pair my controller up with LinuxMint, it connects instantly and basically says to me, "Ok. Done. Now what would you like to do?" With Windows, it's struggle, struggle, struggle. If only I could get GameEx to work in Linux, I'd leave Windows behind.
