Title: First attempt at graphic design. RoboFender control panel.
Post by: jimmer on March 18, 2013, 11:14:50 pm
Here are my mock-ups for comment.

This is the top and front edge of the panel, there will be a 15mm radius on the front edge plus about 50mm drop.

I'll have lots of questions for when I re-draw it all, but to start with: I have been drawing things in MSPaint and saving as bmp or png. Should I be working to a certain dpi at this stage matched to the printer maybe?

this is in the pixart FAQ:
"How should I prepare large format files for Pixartprinting?
The printing resolution for large format files must be between 100 and 150 dpi within the CMYK colour space (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Key black). Any images sent in RGB will be converted with a standard separation profile. The accepted recording formats are: PDF, JPEG, TIFF (although this format is not recommended due to long download times)."

I have access to the full Adobe suite but would prefer to stick with MSPaint if that will work.

No artistic comments? OK I maybe I'm throwing out too many options.

Anyone care to discuss the original Defender graphics?  I like the fill every bit of space style, but the perspective bit doesn't seem to fit,  I can't make visual sense of it. I'm thinking of re-drawing something at the bottom with no perspective.

The only way I feel comfortable with it is when the graphics above are similar width to the 'far end' of the perspective part. But that's hard for my panel because the Robotron sticks push the Defender controls out wide.

So here's an attempt at something without the perspective. I think it looks better. I've cheated a bit by squaring up all the graphics which might add to the tidiness?

I wasn't serious when I knocked this one up, but it's possibly my favourite. Wish I could make up my mind.
