Title: Monitor help- which option do I choose.
Post by: Handjor on January 19, 2013, 01:23:48 pm
I have been reading monitor faqs, forums, etc trying to understand how to choose a monitor on a budget. I have narrowed it down to 3 options. I am new at all of this, but great with computers and carpentry. Can someone explain to me the pros and cons of these options? I want to play as many classic late 80s and 90s games as possible. Turtles in time, neo geo games, marvel v cap com, street fighter, etc.

1. Buy an old sunset riders cab for about 200 bucks, and make modifications.

2. I have a 32 inch 720p Samsung tv I'm not using. I could build a cab around its size and live with the letterbox.

3. I can buy a couple of Sony pvm-2030 monitors for under 50 locally.

Fundamentally, I don't understand if you can't play games of higher resolution than your monitor. Additionally, I care more about flexibility in playing a lot of games than I do in authentic experience. If this cab goes well, my next one will be for the experience.

Any thoughts?

Thank you so much,

Jordan

Jordan, I just made a post here that should answer some of your questions.  Just happened to see this thread first:
