Guys im looking into rebuilding a new mame cabinet, atm i have an X arcade stick,im not really into this tbh.
I was maybe planning on building a controller (ipac2) is there a way though that i can connect this to a ps3 or 360?
I want to play games like MVC and Mortal Kombat 9....these arent released on PC as yet.
Can it be done? and How? Any Links to adapters/wires needed etc?
Would i need to open cabinet everythime i wanted to play 360/ps3 or main Pc Mame?
thanks

Hacked wired Xbox 360 controllers can be used on PC & 360.

Also, you can switch between the two using a simple USB kvm switch or the like. No need to open things up.

what do you mean hacked tho.....can they be connected via the ipac....how would you connect the wires from Usb xbox to ipac board/controler?

I mean used instead of the iPac, not with.
You would connect your controls (joystick / buttons) to this (a hacked 360 controller):

And then, the USB plug would then go to your PC or Xbox 360.

Mmmmm this looks a little to complicated for me,i have seen your main page on this and well done though.
i am now thinking......The following.....to buy 2 very good 360 or Ps3 Joysticks that also plug in and work in Mame Hyperspin. Is there any real good Sanwa/Happ style joysticks for the above consoles that do this? If so i could buy them break them down and make my own controller therefor it would work with consoles and PC.
So is there any good choices out there?

Something like this?
http://www.amazon.com/HORI-Xbox-360-Soulcalibur-Arcade-Stick/dp/B006TC57WO/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1357935058&sr=8-8&keywords=hori+360+controller (http://www.amazon.com/HORI-Xbox-360-Soulcalibur-Arcade-Stick/dp/B006TC57WO/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1357935058&sr=8-8&keywords=hori+360+controller)

excellent yes something like that then....Have you tried them,or any other one like it?
Would it run on PC well, just like an orginal pc joystick?
if it did,i would probably buy 2,break them open and build into a DIY control panel...hence i got hyperspin running with all my emulators and with the flick of a USB Butterfly switch i could start up my PS3/360.....depending on what joystick i buy.
If anyone else can give feedback on the best joysticks to buy for a console that work on PC,please leave feedback i would really appreciate it.
Edit:i have noticed you can buy ps3/360 adapters from ultimarc to fit in an ipac....i struggle to find anything like that in the UK....but i woulda went with that..but if i could not set it up right it would be hassle sending it back oversees etc.(has anyone used the Ipac and Adapters in there mame console cabinet?)
-
Andy (who runs ultimarc) is in the UK.

I have a i-pac now, I just got two of these http://www.focusattack.com/akishop-ps360-multi-console-joystick-pcb/ (http://www.focusattack.com/akishop-ps360-multi-console-joystick-pcb/) they support ps3 360 ps2 ps1 and dreamcast
-
Interesting ill look into that as well, thanks.
I have done a little research,as far as i am aware there is only 1 stick you can buy that supports 360/ps3 and PC,this is the Eightarc Fusion, are there any other sticks that you guys know of that support theses 3 at once?
I cannot find anywhere where i can purchase the Eightarc at all, especially uk.
if i had to choose just 1 console i would go with the PS3 as a could save games to hard drive, therefore is there any great Sticks that work on this console and PC emulation/Hyperspin.
I have found this one, again hard to buy though.....Hori Fighting Edge PS3/PC edition.
So any other sticks i could look into before i decide on whether to build my own and add many adapters/etc.
-
X arcade does all that and more.
-
I currently own the X arcade----but i dont want to buy all the adapters for it,not for money reasons, but for the sake i need to chop and change with all the different adapter wires.....pain in the ass it looks......therefor looking into building my own with ipac and PCB(but the PCB boards are near impossible to buy here,uk)
The other option as stated is to buy a couple of Fightsticks and mod them......preferably sticks that work with all 3 systems, mainly PC of course then PS3 then 360 in that order.
The Cheap Datel arcade pro stick work on all systems, but i hear its a poor stick....anyone tried this and modded it?
-
Well there is only one adapter which is the 5-1, PS1/PS2/GC/Wii/DC or the 2-1 Xbox1/PS3. I have all mine hooked up to a serial switchbox but I bought all the adapters, then got the 5-1 later on. I also have the Xbox 360 adapter which connected to the PS adapter works like a champ. The PS3 works with the PC via a software patch and the Xbox 360 works with the PC natively.
The only alternative I can think of is the Hori Arcade Adapter or a Datel (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Datel-Arcade-Pro-Joystick-Xbox/dp/B00361GDJM/ref=sr_1_1?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1358010270&sr=1-1) adapter. I think the latter is cheaper but M$ is known with disabling updates for these sticks. I know I have to hot plug in the X Arcade into the Xbox 360 or it doesn't boot up. So you have that to think about that possible problem too.

Hi thanks for info....would you be able to post links to the 360 and ps3 adapters for the X arcade then to have a look?
Is it easy to switch between them ie is it just removing usb from 1 console to another?
*i have a small problem with my x arcade recently,it is plugged in via ps2,when i start my computer the x arcade works fine, however if i go away for a while and leave the system in attract mode, when i go back to it the x aracade is unresponsive,i have to restart my comp just to get it working again,i have tried many things, but it just is unresponsive until i restart my pc again......any help? btw, whens it unresponsive the lights are still active but i cant change or do anything :(

Yeah I have the same problem and it has something to do with using a PS/2 to USB adapter. It doesn't like it, so I just use Xbox 360 adapter with the PC now. Doing it that way I can safely switch between the Xbox 360 and the PC via a cheap 4 port USB switch (electronic). The serial switch is even easier, but you will have to choose which games console you are trying to use with it. So you cannot plug in all the consoles with the 5-1 and expect them to work....well you could I guess. I have wireless power switches to my consoles so I do not have the power bricks on (saving the planet), you could leave them all plugged in (if it would reach) but you would have to switch via power and that is prone to failure.

Thanks again brother,i appreciate your info,im looking atm over here in Scotland for a UK site(my x arcade site doesnt have them in just now, currently unavailable).
Do you have a cab? Any pics?
-
If it is gremlinsolutions, which is my closest supplier then maybe the Datel seems a worthy alternative. They haven't gotten any new stock in and their prices have been a little expensive lately.
My cab? Well let us just say I need to start working on it when I have a sunny day and its not freezing. Next August? :lol

I'm sure there is at a price. But I bought a HDMI (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Duronic-HDS3-Switch-output-Switcher/dp/B0020426AG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1358199147&sr=8-1) electronic sensing switcher from Amazon for £10.00 it works great with the PS3/PC/Raspberry Pi. I don't have to fiddle about with the cables.
