How stable would that be during a rowdy game of Street Fighter?
-
haha great question! We had this in mind when we built it. Actually we only use it for Street Fighter and we button mash hard!
The base is concrete so it is heavy enough for stability but light enough to slide around the house.
The post is .68 thick 2x2in stainless steel.
The top is 1.4 inch thick wood with a stainless steel top.
All these factors make it very, very sturdy. Sometimes on stream I stand or sit on it. lol
If you would like to see us play on it and see what Im talking about check us out on twitch.tv/arkadeum
We are always playing street fighter casuals and hosting tournaments.

Man that is pretty cool! How much did everything cost?
-
That's pretty awesome. That would allow me to use my 46" TV as a Mame display... hmmm... **gears turning... burning smell coming out of ears**
-
I like it.
-
I'm not sure if it's the angle of the camera or because we can't see underneath it, but it seems thin compared to the usual thickness of the base of joysticks.

I would love to see some construction pics.

Just the inspiration I needed, since I have been thinking about something similar. :applaud:
I have plans for at least one dedicated Bishi Bashi pedestal and maybe one for shooting games with two HAPP guns. But this will be with an internal supergun (i.e. running JAMMA boards).
When (the lack of) available space becomes an issue this is a great idea. And also for portability.
