Hi everyone,
Was just wondering if there is a way to find out what an exidy game cab was originally by the serial numbers.I recently picked up a V-ball arcade game and after doing some research found that it never came in the cab its in now.The control panel is huge on it and it has the reflected off a mirror type monitor view.Anways,i found a few games that came in the exidy cab that match mine.I believe it used to be a shooter game or a crossbow game as those are the few that fit the style of cab and have the dropped down monitor.Nothing inside shows clues to the original game and the control panel hasn't been removed yet although i see a large hole in the center that was filled to except the new game.The only thing left is the original serial numbers on the back.So,is there anyway of finding what it used to be from those numbers?i'll post some pics soon,right now its kind of stuffed in the game room/garage as it was an unexpected pickup and i really didn't have room prepared for it.
Just added a pic.You can see how wide the control panel is.I looked at a few games and think it might have been a chiller,crossbow,or cheyenne.

Statistically speaking it was most likely a Crossbow. If you are restoring it then any of the Exidy shooters are appropriate, although good luck finding a whole set of parts to one of them.

I got the v-ball game working that was in it but i plan this weekend to remove it and put it in another case thats not as nice as this one.In doing so i'll be able to get a better look under the control panel and look for any clues.If i can find the parts and it turns out to be a crossbow game i'd like to restore it back to something more fitting of the cab.I do know the hole is in the center where the current instruction plate is now so i'm hoping to see some color or sign of what it might have originally been.May be a new project for me(as if i don't have enough already)

A lot of Exidy shooters actually went through more than one title in their lifetime. Exidy produced 7 other unique games (and one prototype) on that hardware in the 5 years after Crossbow came out and many were kits to update Crossbow machines. It is definitely an Exidy shooter cabinet, but don't be surprised if you see bits and pieces from more than one game.
I wouldn't bother pulling your Volleyball stuff until you can piece together an Exidy gun kit, because it might take a couple of years to find all the parts to one.

Man, that is one terrible conversion. Good for you for restoring it!
There is a Multi-Exidy board out there that plays all of their shooters. Look into it...
