Last night i found a problem with my cabinet build that i may have created myself.
My monitor 19" LCD Dell E196FPF has been de-cased, and as it had a power button which needed to be pressed to take the monitor out of standby to power on, when i stripped it I took of the button and bridged the two power tabs together with solder. In essence making permanent power on.
So now when i power up the cabinet i get no monitor power, even when the PC boots - no standby light nothing !
I have to unplug the VGA cable from the video card- plug it into a separate monitor reset the PC and that monitor will power on and then I can plug the VGA cable back into the other monitor.
This will then power up the monitor and everything will work fine.
If I leave the PC plugged into the other monitor - no problems
But when it is working after the swap, switching of the power to cabinet & monitor and i am back to square one again.
well even more curious.
Took the monitor back out of the cabinet and it worked every time.
I have even taken of the little panel which houses power button / brightness etc etc in case multiple switches were being pressed and it still works.
Now I have to re-spray my perspex panel as the paint got scratched and then re-assemble !!
Any ideas whats going on?

had the same thing putting a lcd into a double dragon, ya you cant just solder the start button together tried it. put a switch for the monitor just inside the coin door when you turn the monitor on and off it worked for me and i would only have to do it when the machine gets unplugged or power out then you have to reset the monitor buy switching it on and off then it works fine with just the game power button
