Title: Confused about monitor frequencies
Post by: kalkin on October 29, 2003, 04:10:18 am
I have a hard time understanding monitor resolutions and frequencies. In some places I read that 800x600 60Hz V is 38kHz H and others that it's 35kHz H. Could someone please explain to me which one is correct and why?

The only piece of evidence i've found is from Retroblast's review of the D9200. On page one (http://www.retroblast.com/reviews/d9200-1.html (http://www.retroblast.com/reviews/d9200-1.html)) the sixth picture says 37.5kHz / 60Hz and I suspect he's running 800x600.

Also when setting 800x600 60Hz on the computer my computer monitor says 38kHz.

Thanks.

It's really closer to 38, but it all really depends on how you set yours up as there is a little slop involved, most of which depends on the refresh rate.  The official 800x600@60Hz vesa mode has a hclock of 37.8
