Title: Found some Shareware Vector Programs
Post by: tbombaci on October 23, 2003, 09:40:28 am
Geez.. 1.5 minutes of Googling turned up this:

http://www.mayura.com/

MayuraDRAW 1.4. It will open end edit AI files among others.

However... the AI files must be Illustrator 88 or 3.2 (about the same anyway). I opened my Pacman Sideart file with no prob after saving in 3.2 format.

They even include a tutorial, http://www.mayura.com/ps2ai.htm , on using Ghostscript (Free Download) to convert most postscript files (AI, EPS, PDF, etc...) so MayuraDraw will open them.

Or, I am more than happy to convert any AI file for anyone to v3.2.

Also, the pasteboard area has a much tighter limit.

Looks like the reg fee for the shareware is $39 USD

the best part...its only 1.3 megs!!

Found another. This one, Zoner Draw, is much better. This will import a native Illustrator file up to version 8. The pasteboard will support a full sideart image for a cabinet and it's only $49. Try the demo here:

http://www.zoner.com/

Once again, I am more than happy to save any Illustrator file to version 8 for anyone who needs it. Anything new I upload to the vector library will be Illustrator version 8.
