Post by: Furry131 on September 30, 2012, 10:52:16 pm
Hey guys. I need help. I'm pretty sure I have a wgk7000 series monitor.  I found pictures that is very close to my board.  Anyhow I have golden tee 2004 fore that I just installed. If you look at my pics they look like they look like they are std res. I'm not 100% sure this is a med res monitor   The pictures will show all of the tags I can see.  I would like to set this to med res if I can. But I am not sure how to. If I can.  Can you please help.

I also have tekken 3 set up on this screen and it looks great no issues.  The color looks great on tekken but horrible on gt.  looks like I'm playing the fog all of the time

Thats a WG k7000 and i believe its a standard Res if it helps.

What size is it?

i believe the only medium res they made was K7500 - 25"

and standard/med were
K7600 - 39"
U5000 - 25"

I have no idea what that little pcb is thats mounted next to your flyback could you take a closeup of it?

flyback is the big black thing on the left hand side with two knobs,  it has the annod cup that atachs to the monitor.

it adjusts brightness and focus of the tube, and can kill you if you tuch under the cap,

Oh ok my wife and I adjusted the brightness tonight to see if the would help.  We also used the The focus.  It didn't work at all. The pbc is a color adjustment board.  Most of the knobs varied from green to blue.

So I might be stuck with they fuzzy screen until I update my monitor huh??

if one board looks great on the monitor and another doesn't, then it may be a board issue.
I have had an issue with a Gt once where it looked like the colors were all messed up. the monitor was fine but the board was giving the issue.

There is a test menu in the GT that may show something wrong.

GT can be set for standard or medium res. but thats not your problem here.

I have a k7000 with a goldentee 2005 and it to looks like I am playing in the fog exactly like this.  I performed a cap kit on the chassis and it looks the same.  Are you saying that you fixed it with something related to the sync signals?  can you be more specific?

Well I was having sync issues but the biggest issue was my daughter board that has the contrast pots on it was broken. I replace the board and adjusted the contrast and bright and spent some time on my colors. It fixed the issue.

Edit. Also make sure you put the sync in the correct spot. I have mine on -v sync and -h sync.  One of my issues is it was grounded.

Well my sync is correct already then.  My screen with goldentee 2005 just looks exactly like the two pictures you showed.  Foggy.  I adjusted for a good white but the brightness had to be increased other wise the colors are too faint.  Then you end up with a very washed out image.

Is your contrast working?   Mine did the same exact thing.  I could turn my contrast and nothing would happen. As soon as I changed that board, my contrast worked and I was able to balance out my bright so it wouldn't wash out.

I do not have a remote adjustment board with my K7000 but I will have to check tonight after work to see if I have any contrast adjustment.

Ill tell you what. I will take some pictures of the back of my chassis and show you what mine looks like. I know its possible not to have a remote board and just have the pots on main board but from what I understand its more likely to have one.   here is a location of where you will find the WG manual   looks like the far right is where the pot is suppose to be for the contrast.

i hope this helps for now.

Ok well I feel like a bit of an idiot because I know I did a little adjusting of the contrast at some point in my trouble shooting but I noticed that it did not make much of a difference.  Well after talking to you I was going to check this contrast thing out a little more.  Turns out that when turned all the way to one side the picture instantly looks amazing in comparison to how it has been looking.  So now the only thing that is not quite there yet with this monitor is my ability to adjust the vertical position where I want it.  The knob gives me about 1/2" adjustment and it is almost to low to read distance to the pin in golden tee.

LoL. :applaud: Sounds like your issue is the vertical size pot or your vertical raster pot....  they are the 4th and 5th pot from the right.   it may be something else but I would make sure and fix everything you messed with before you go any further.... can you take a picture of your screen and what it looks like.   maybe the monitor chassis too.

Here is a picture I took with the lights off to avoid the flash reflection.  You can see how it would be nice to adjust the image higher but that is as high as it will go.  I also took a picture of the monitor chassis.

Sounds like your pot is not working right.  I would create a new post here in the monitor section.  Tell them what your issue is. I'm sure someone with more experience can help you some more. Glad it looks better though.

has this chassis had a cap kit.
if not it needs one to look it's best.

try adjusting your 50/60 htz pot.

first center your V-size and V-position pot  then adjust your  50/60 htz pot.
and finish the adjustment with your V-size and V-position pots.

with this combination you can get the best image that the chassis will do.

there are many K7000's that need this adjustment done and even then will never adjust all the way up.
why i do not know but it is one of the few quirks that theses chassis have.

also check out my youtube channel for monitor repairs i have done.

Yes it has a newly installed cap kit.  All but ceramic disc type C204 on neck board because when I first fired it up there were major issues that I thought might have been caused by c204 so I reinstalled the original.  The problem ended up being related to a broken resister that I damaged when I was removing some of the white goop holding one of the original caps in place.  I have since replaced said bad resistor but have not tried replacing C204 again. I have not adjusted the 50/60 hz pot either.  I thought I remember seeing that it was white gooped to prevent adjustment but it may have been another pot.

as a general rule you never change a part from one type to another unless it is a known upgrade.

the 50/60 htz pot should never be glued down.
the only pot that is, is your HV shutdown pot.

I did play around with the 50/60 pot and it sort of helped but not enough for me to consider it good to go.  There must be some components that need to be replaced to give me the ability to center the screen properly.  The way it sits now is still a huge improvement over how it was before entering this thread.  So I appreciate the help.  Thanks

try increasing the value of R83 or remove R83 and see if you get your image to shift up where you want it

check out my YouTube channel to see what it do.
