Title: Eight Ball Machine Problem
Post by: spag256 on September 26, 2012, 06:48:22 pm
I recently purchased an original Eight Ball pinball,it has two problems.

The first is the outball kicker won't work. I bought a new coil but when I soldered it in and turned on the power the coil "locked" in the "on" position, started buzzing and got very hot. I disconnected the wires.

The second problem is that all the bulbs behind the backglass won't light,it is not the bulbs.

Any suggestions?

Shorted driver transistor to the kicker.  Replace the transistor, and if there is one (can't remember here) replace the predriver.  The problem was not originally the coil though the original coil was probably damaged.

Check the ground string for the those lights for breaks.

Here is a link for downloading the schematics and manual.  This should help with troubleshooting.
