Title: What feet do you use on your woody?
Post by: mcseforsale on September 13, 2012, 12:50:15 pm
Building a woody/evolution and I'm looking for ideas on which feet to put under it.  Seems that I can't find some industrial feet (sliders) at HD, or Lowes.

So, how to you level/foot your woody or evolution?

Thanks!
AJ

I use something like these (http://www.amazon.com/T-Nut-Cabinet-Furniture-Levelers-4/dp/B0037MKJ2M/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1347558956&sr=8-1&keywords=leveling+feet).

Just generic levelers from the neighborhood hardware store on mine.

If you want to go totally authentic, you can buy a kit from Bob Roberts:  http://therealbobroberts.net/ll.html (http://therealbobroberts.net/ll.html)  It comes with mounting plates and everything.

In my own case, I just said "f- it" and bought some casters.  Much easier to move the game around.

I'd use wood screws right into the floor and a couple of toggle bolts into the wall because those cabs both look like they are going to fall over!   ;)

I used these from outwater plastics:

I have none, MDF on the floor with MDF-Plates and T-molding on the side.

+1 on the casters, I just bought a pga tour cab the other day with 4 wheels and it's so much easier then every other cab I own. If I ever scratch build a cab it's definitely the way to go. The other big plus is the bottom isn't all torn up like basically every other cab out there.

Also no need to worry about the feet breaking off.  On both of my upright cabs the feet were broken off at some point.  One of them I ended up cutting off the bottom 8" or so of the cabinet and putting new wood in there.  That one has wheels on it, which makes working on it a breeze.

The blue pill has wheels.  I'm just wondering about these slim cabs.  Seems they're pretty bottom-heavy and won't tip over...but I might put wheels on the front so the aggressive play won't tip it over, but the levelers on the rear will keep it somewhat planted.

Those look pretty nice, and much more versatile than having to dork with mounting plates.  My JAMMA cab could use some prettier front-side support, I may pick some of those up.

I use a hockey puck with a lag bolt countersunk into it, going up into the cab. Then I put a 3" felt furniture pad on it. Stays put but not hard to slide on my laminate and hardwood floors.

Man...Hockey pucks are so versatile!  From body-lifts on the old f-150 to arcade feet.  That's one of those funny things being from Ct. and living in Ga. that they don't realize down here.

I'm sure if you contact the NHL for pucks, they should have a lot of spares they're not using.  :'(
