Title: The voice of every cartoon you ever watched
Post by: shmokes on July 14, 2012, 01:36:36 am
Get a load of this guy. (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0919798/) He has voiced at least one character from every cartoon you ever watched. Also every other cartoon.

My mouse isn't working correctly (otherwise I'd slap the link in), but another guy you may not realize you know is John Di Maggio.  Biggest jobs include Bender on Futurama, Jake the Dog on Adventure Time (which is the same voice as Bender).  He's done Wakka and Kimahri from FFX, as well as Gilgamesh in FFXII.  He's the voice of Marcus Fenis in the Gears series, too.  He's got plenty of other credits, and it looks like some of them are actual acting credits, and not just voiced ones.

He's certainly not as prolific as Welker (whose name I was also familiar with, though didn't realize he's done pretty much everything), but he is a great voice actor as well.

Wow, this is impressive.  the list keeps going and going...

Aside from all the cartoons, sort by type and see all the movies and video games he's voiced animal/creature sounds for.  Raiders of the Lost Ark?  Maybe he was the monkey, or some random Nazi's death scream?

The original voice of Fred from 1969 Scooby Doo!

Wow, and I thought Mark Hamill was a busy voice actor.  Impressive.

DiMaggio is awesome in the Sega game, Madworld. As is Gregg Proops (",)

here's a youtube clip I prepared earlier (warning, adult themes. And really poor audio)

Yeah, Welker and Peter Cullen are probably the two most casted, as well as popular, voice actors in history. I've been watching Dungeones and Dragons ('83-85, CBS saturday mornings), and he did like three main characters (yes, Uni is a character), as well as minor ones. Of course, he and Cullen were working together on that one, too, though in somewhat reverse roles.

Don't forget Mel Blanc. I don't know if there's a bigger legend in cartoon voices ever.

Oh yeah you gotta love Mel Blanc.  I like Billy West's work too, he's like half of Futurama.  Welker is crazy prolific though...  It's a shame that they didn't let him voice Megatron in the Transformers movies, especially since they had Peter Cullen do Optimus Prime (of course Michael Bay crapped all over the Transformers franchise in general, but that's not a discussion for this thread...)  I just think that since he was still around and active in the field they should have asked him to do the voice.  I think I heard that he did a reading for it but they decided not to use him.   ???

That's quite a bit of content, (there was a Rambo TV series??) reminds me of Ernest Borgnine's filmography... Will we have an RIP thread when he passes???

After reading this thread title, I immediately thought, "Frank Welker?"

I think Mel Blanc and Clancy Brown have extensive resumés as well.

Ah when I saw his post I thought you may have been referring to Corey Burton; check out his IMDB: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0123553/ (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0123553/)

He has done a ton of voice work for games as well...

Mel Blanc wasn't a voice actor. He was something else, kind of like Mister Rogers, and Captain Kangaroo.

Yeah, and Mr. T . They were god awful.

Na na. Anything after the mid to late  80s doesn't count, so definitely no games count.

Mel Blanc wasn't a voice actor.

I am baffled by this.   :dunno   Of course he was.  Or are you arguing that he was MORE than that, i.e. an icon?  He was that too.

First thing I did was pull this up to see what part he played in Mighty Man and Yukk from the Plastic Man Comedy/Adventure Show. No dice.
Still, almost every cartoon I've ever watched.

edit: Maybe too hasty.  Based on his other works, I had a feeling he had something to do with Mighty Man and Yukk.  If I could update the referenced wiki page I would.  But I'm not good at that stuff.
