I'm Currently in the process of acquiring various emulators and associated roms, But when coming to MAME i'm a complete blank. I have a collection from many many moon ago circa. 2006 with just under 400 games that i'd selected, I then foolishly updated MAME to the newest version and a good 200 odd games have disappeared :O
So the question is... Is it easier to just grab the newest version of MAME and start from scratch or attempt to rebuild to roms i already have?

The first thing. Without telling you where/how to acquire them - I think it's a bit easier to reacquire the latest versions rather than trying to make the six year old ones work with the latest build of MAME. Or you can just download the version of MAME that you used to have (a lot of people stick with old versions anyway unless there's a compelling reason to upgrade for them.)
