Anyone used one of these? Are they as versatile as the WG D9200? I ask because this monitor comes in a 25" size that would be an easy 1 to 1 replacement for my current 25" monitor.
Thanks.
-
Yes, that'd be as good the D9200, just smaller. 35kHz means that it'll take 800x600 officially, so that's a slight advantage. Most D9200s will do 800x600, but it's not officially supported, so if it doesn't you're out of luck.
Information on price and where to get one would be appreciated, as many people have been looking for a 25" alternative to the D9200.

From what I've managed to find out so far, these are very common in europe. I haven't located a US distributor yet.
-
I'd really like to find out about a European reseller. Preferably in the Netherlands or Germany. Has anyone tried to order directly from Hantarex UK?
-
I've contacted Norma Hunt from Hantarex's contact page: http://www.hantarex.com/contact.asp asking for a U.S. distributor. I haven't heard back yet but you could probably find european distributors if you ask them.
-
Well, Norma pointed me to www.hantarex.it
After bumbling around this italian language site I finally found the reseller world map.
Of course, I could simply have clicked the "English" button, and then gone to "Hantarex in the World".
Anyway, go to http://www.hantarex.it/ and you can find distributors across the globe.
The U.S. distributor is listed as:
R. H. BELAM COMPANY, INC.
60 Madison Avenue
11550 - Hempstead, NY Tel. +1-516-292-2670
FAX +1-516-292-2219
URL: www.belamny.com
E-mail: belamny@juno.com
I'm contacting him to ask his price for the Polo Star 25"
-
No price yet, but here's more detail:
Hantarex PoloStar

update I have found the Dutch distributor for the Hantarex monitor line and got a price quote for the POLOSTAR 15-25-31-35kHz monitor. Prices are without 19,5% VAT:
- 25inch model = EUR 400
- 28inch model = EUR 450
I am gonna phone them later this week to see if I can visit their showroom.
The prices are not too bad considering I can only get an used arcade monitor in the Netherlands for EUR 250. An used monitor has been in arcade exploitation for 3-5 years and thus will have its lifespan significantly reduced, not even mentioning phosphor-decay and burn-in. I rather get a new one.
The Hantarex POLOSTAR specs are excellent. Besides the 15/25/31/35 kHz Hsync range, I also like that it can handle composite sync directly meaning I can hookup any console with RGB output directly to the monitor. The only thing not so great about the POLOSTAR for my purposes is the power-on degaussing. I rather have a degauss-button because I am mounting my monitor rotatable meaning I would need to flip the power off-on after rotating the monitor.
I'll post more if I decide to purchase one!
-
If it really doesn't have deguass available with a button or onscreen menu, then adding a manual degauss button is just a small soldering job away.

A bit late perhaps, but I recently bought a Hantarex monitor from Suzo UK (www.suzo.co.uk) - I believe they have a Netherlands branch (www.suzo.com) as well so I would have thought they would do it. Click on the contact button and give them a call - I did not receive a reply by email.
FWIW I bought a 21" Polo3, for ~

Yeah, it can handle VGA signals.
-
Does the Hantarex Polostar need an isolation transformer?
Thanks.
-
I just got an email from Hantarex saying 35kHz is the most Polo Star can handle. Strange since the product sheet states 35-38kHz with manual adjusting.
Isn't 800x600 at 60Hz something like 38kHz? Doesn't this mean 800x600 is not supported by the monitor?
-
800x600 at 60Hz vertical is roughly 35kHz horizontal.
-
Vol, did you ever recieve a price from that US distributer?
-
Has anyone heard anything new on this? This monitor sounds promising for those of us who can't stuff a D9200 in their cabs.
-
Answer to Greywolf:
No. No currently produced monitors need isolation transformers AFAIK.

I have ordered a brand new 25inch Polostar. It should arrive later this week. I'll try to write up a review and post some pics. Man, I can't wait to get my hands on it!
