Title: n00b question about GroovyMAME: Does it have frontend?
Post by: c0dehunter on May 22, 2012, 05:14:48 pm
Hello All,
I am using MAMUI32 and FX on a regular PC (don't have and arcade cabinet), and I need to know if I should use GroovyMAME instead?

Does it have a front-end like MAMEUI?

By the way, why its webpage is down?

Thanks!

AFAIK it doesn't have a front-end (just like the official mame).
The project has moved on google-code: http://code.google.com/p/groovyarcade/ (http://code.google.com/p/groovyarcade/).

Thanks. Is there any tutorial available for GroovyMAME? I mean how difficult is it? Thanks!

I don't know if exist a tutorial, but you can get the precompiled binary from the project website (http://code.google.com/p/groovyarcade/).

Very old topic but worth a mention that M+GUI might be used with groovymame. Up to version 171 should work fine and even detects groovymame specific options. Worth a try just to test some options

After mame change ini/source to ini/presets M+GUI does not recognize configuration for specific drivers/games. Before 171 this works but frontend saves ini for sources with extension .inipp instead of .ini (manual correction was required, this is probably due sources extension change from .c to .cpp). For single games this worked fine.
