Title: Monitor Question - This should be easy
Post by: iSpaz on May 14, 2012, 06:43:58 pm
Ok so I tore apart my wifes TV that im going to be using in my DK machine.  I have an original DK Board and am buying a video inverter, and then a video converter (RGB to component) to hook up to the TV monitor.

I am at the point where I need to mount all of the internals from the TV on the mounting bracket I made.  I simply don't want them hanging upside down when I mount my TV.  How do you know which way to turn your tv so that the game will output the video correctly onto the screen.

Here is a diagram of the question I am asking to.

You could always test it first...

Heck, I don't test. I just rotate the image in software if I'm wrong. It's easy enough to do. Probably is quicker to edit the Mame.ini file than it is to make the descriptive graphic asking which way to turn it.

He's talkin' about a dedicated board though, i'd test if it was me. There's no software to flip the image.

If you expect me to read entire posts before writing some half informed smart ass retort reply, you got me all wrong.

I can not hook it up to test yet b/c I am still missing a power supply, and video converter... working on buying them.  So I was asking here just to see if anyone knew off the top of their head.

Its really gonna have to be something you test out in order to verify.

I'd say #1

at least that's how the xx in 1 boards are.

The deflection coils can be reversed if the pix comes up wrong. Don't try it unless yer *damn sure* you know what to do to make it happen. You get it wrong and the monitor is toast.

The cab I use for MAME now used to be used for running a number of arcade boards that were all wired in an interchangable way similar to JAMMA. Certain games would come up backwards, so I put the yoke coils on 2 molex connectors and the pix could be corrected just by swapping the 2 connectors around. You could also do this via relay and flip the image with a switch mounted somewhere easy to get to. There were a couple early cocktail games that flipped to the 2nd player this way.

It's option 1. Arcade monitors are usually 90 degrees CCW.
