Title: Getting artwork on the cabinet...Car wrapping?
Post by: Dalgaard on January 19, 2012, 02:32:15 pm
My artwork is almost done so I need to find a good way to apply it to my cabinet. I had an idea, and I wanted to know if anyone had tried this or heard of anyone who have had experience with it.

I went to my local print shop, and showed him some pictures of my cabinet. He said that he could easily wrap it in the same type of foil that is used for cars. Carwrapping foil...why not? The foil could be laminated afterwards, which should make it near impossible to scratch.

Think it would turn out good?

Honestly don't know but it seems like twice the work if you include lamination.  I highly recommend Game on Grafix.  They do absolutely great stuff and it seems pretty durable.

Why wouldn't you just use some water and a squeegee and do a wet application of printed vinyl?  That way you can shift and move it around before making the bond.  You can even order laminated vinyl so its near impossible to scratch... unless your art requires an overall reflective surface, then knock yourself out and let us know how it turns out.
