I'm not really a greedy person. But this year I got some very nice, thoughtful gifts that I am very excited about. One of them is a throwing star that screws into the wall and is a coat hook. I put it in the new bathroom I'm building, as the hand towel holder. Between that and the jenny 867-5309 that I'm getting made for the wall it will be a nice bathroom for my recording studio.
I also got a ukelele which I got right into. The tuning is like the top 4 strings on a guitar with an octave string so it came really easily and the technique is the same. I've been shredding that little thing up for a few days now. I also got an equalizer for my PA system. I have wanted one for years but since I do more recording than jamming it has always been low on the list. I rang out the feedback and now I can actually hear myself sing when I jam with a drummer. I also got a gift card for the local music shop and used that to pick up some nice strings for the bass I bought a few months ago.
What about you?

I got my mame cabinet as my present. :applaud:

This year I did get a starter humidor and a bunch of Churchill style cigars. I am pretty new to using a humidor, so I have to figure out how to properly use it still.
-
The main thing I got was that I bought some vacation time to work on some projects around the house (namely my antique radio jukebox build, but a few other bits as well).
When I'm contracting, my clients don't generally care if I take time off, but I don't get paid either :(
-
We had an offer on our house a few days before Christmas and made an offer on another house a couple of days ago. Let's see if it all goes through and that'll be our present.
That, and the new motor in the furnace last month... :banghead:
Kids had fun and all were appreciative of what they received so that's a plus.

Best deals I've seen on cigars have been from mikecigars.com. I showed them absolutely no mercy with a bunch of samplers and coupon codes and the cigars were fresher than anything I've ever bought outside of the Caribbean.
Thanks, I will definitely check it out. I have no problem being abusive with coupon codes. >:D

I was able to open a Keurig coffee maker for Christmas. It is nice to have coffee at home again. Our $6 black Friday coffee maker from 4 years ago finally bit the dust and the keurig was the replacement.

Looks pretty much like the canisters they use (or used, I dunno anymore) for soda in restaurants.

I got a case of my favorite wine, Witches Brew. Michigan made, and delicious. You can only get it in stores around Halloween/fall time.
It should last a week lol

I was spoiled rotten, primarily in the kitchen. Got a Kitchenaid 600 stand mixer, a few Henckels and Wusthof knives (the cheapest ones they make), a blender, a crock pot. Also got a little grill I can use on my balcony (not legally, but lord knows that's not gonna stop me). ;D
-
My family chipped in and got me an iPad 2 for Christmas. Love this thing! I also got the new Zelda and Batman: Arkham Asylum (been meaning to buy it; never had.) So yeah, I was pretty spoiled.
-
Yesterday I got another xmas gift. A 7-pack of harmonicas in the more popular keys. All this started when my friends did a recording and I added a harmonica solo as a joke at the end... and they loved it. Looks like I'll be taking harmonicas more seriously now!
-
I just get money - then I go get whatever loot I want! Looking at some new bedding - PURPLE SHEETS, oh yeah - and maybe a TV.

Damn Betty Crocker! What are you going to make with all that stuff? Did you just move into your first place or something, why all the kitchen gadgets?
Kitchenaid mixers are rad btw. You can make all kinds of stuff with one of those things. The torque is nuts.

My family got me parts from Groovy Gamer Gear, my wife got me Smallville season 10 and my art from Basement Arcade Grafx, my kids got me a new palm router, and I was able to spend several hours every day for two weeks building my cab. Considering I've been putting it off for 3 and half years I couldn't have wished for better presents.
My kiddos got the playmobil Lion Knights castle with all the assorted dragons, trebuchets, knights, and whatnot. Totally awesome, I love that playmobil stuff. It's constantly spread all over the living room now as that one playset has not been put down since Christmas. Eventually it will migrate to the playroom but for now I like watching them stick characters in the dungeon or feed them to the dragon.

Various odds and ends for cooking, a kit for growing my own oyster mushrooms, a cool beer glass that looks like an upside down beer bottle (those last two from my 12yr old), and some great lenses for my DSLR: two vintage primes (28mm and a fast 50mm), as well as a 500mm reflex mirror.
-
a kit for growing my own oyster mushrooms...
I wish I were retired...

One thing I got which I'm really really enjoying is "Star Wars: the Original Radio Drama" on CD. 7 CDs of Star Wars goodness broken into 13 parts produced for NPR radio and broadcast in 1981. Mark Hamill and Anthony Daniels participated, rest of voices seem pretty good, and the sound effects and mood are right on.
Story starts just before the beginning of the movie that we're all familier with, and I was through the entire first disc before the battle that starts off the movie even began.
Really good, entertaining, and great for the commute.

I got those CDs a while ago and really enjoyed them. Nice score. :applaud:

-
I got a Wal-Mart gift card and a snack size bag of pistachios. Couldn't buy myself anything because of a rather untimely rent-a-car repair bill. Supposedly my wife or I put a dent in the roof. Got the bill on Xmas eve.

Speaking of Critters, I was surfing the channels and i saw about 10 min of one of those movies...( laughing ---my bottom--- off when i saw that a young Leonardo DiCaprio was in it) I was thinking of making making a model of one... I saw where you can buy a vinyl lifesize gremlin model from some 3rd world country, but im too scared to send 175 bucks to get one and then have to paint it... :dunno

I listened quite a bit to a borrowed cassette tape version of that.

I just listened to the scene that takes place on the Death Star when the interrogation droid is brought into Leia’s cell. The movie stops there, but the radio version follows her being drugged with what seems like a type of hallucinogenic. Vader then first tries to befriend her as a member of the Rebel Alliance to get to share her information, then he fills her mind with different types of pain, and finally tells her that she is dying in order to get her to fold. She never does obviously, but the agony she is in was pretty graphic.
So graphic that I actually had to turn this off while my daughter was in the car. Didn’t realize I’d have to do that for a Star Wars drama! :o

Arguably, at six years old, Star Wars was a bit gruesome for me. But I endured. Now, what you described there, Rando, damn.
